Title: Removing Oxford heated grips
Post by: kevinuk1 on 09 June 2014, 04:42:29 pm
I am going to be removing the Oxford heated grips and then selling them on, they were already fitted when I got the bike so not quite sure how difficult a job it is to change them back to original.  Have already removed most of the wiring block etc and have ordered new twist grip/grip.

Is it very difficult to change over the throttle twist grip? any help much appreciated

Thanks

I might be interested in buying them off you when that time comes. PM me if you want.

If they haven't been superglued/cemented on, it'll be easy. Try grabbing a thin flat bladed screwdriver, and some hairspray, slide the screwdriver in, spray hairspray, wiggle screwdriver all the way round while spraying hairspray in different places. It should free the grip off.

I have just taken some off today, i spoilt the left habd one, under the rubber is a hard plastic skin, i never got under this and just parted the rubber off the plastic center.

So the throttle side i went in under the rubber and made sure i got under the hard plastic core, long thinnish flat blade screwdriver and spray oil.wd or gt85

that came off ok.

Not always easy but you got to go at it :)

Heating the grips up with an hairdryer and manually pulling them off worked for me.
