I just got my Holeshot AIS removal kit in yesterday (doesnt need any tapping).

The other option is the ivans performance kit:

M8 socket heads for the exhaust stubs.  10mm is long enough.

Use a good quality M8 x 1.25 HSS tapered tap.  I repeat - tapered, good quality.  Not cheapo job from Aldi!

Use Search here to get more info on how to tap the stubs, particularly the outer pair which can't be done with a regular tap wrench.

Looks like Pat removed the radiator to tap out his stubs - http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/airinductionsystemremoval.html (http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/airinductionsystemremoval.html)  :eek  don't know if you have to do this but the Holeshot kit is just a lot less hassle. If you're going the DIY route i.e. sourcing your own tap then don't forget you will need to blank off the hose connectors at the airbox and on carb #4. You could get an OEM cap and clip for the carb stub for not much money so it matches the rest of the carbs, you could probably find a bottle cap or something that would be suitable to blank off the airbox connector.

the instructions that come with the holeshot kit also ask you to drain the coolant and remove the radiator, so I imagine it needs to come out for access regardless :)

It would be a bit of a struggle  removing the AIS with the radiator on .
