when my new PC arrives it will have no OS installed. So as long as in the BIOS the primary boot drive is set as a CD drive will it just read the windows 7 disk? (thus creating a partition and installing windows?)
been such a long time since Ive done this i cant remember :o

to be fair, the CD just has to be in the list, not necessarily first.
The install process will prompt you for the partitions you want (it will usually make a suggestion though).

Yes it will. If CD drive is the first boot choice in BIOS and if Win7 disk is a bootable one (and it is), you will have no problems. Hope you have a nice graphic card as well for these bad winter days. :)

Did this last week for first time since XP. Mine refused to boot from the DVD no matter what so I had to put windows on a USB stick and tell the bios to boot from there. Worked fine then.

Last did it a couple of years ago.
Hope you can spare several hours on it :lol
