Title: Recommend me: WIDE Fit Boots
Post by: kawasutra on 23 May 2014, 06:32:54 pm
I have a pair of Frank Thomas boots from J&S that I bought a size larger to fit my wide feet. Foot moves around a little but with thick socks, it's fine.

I also have a seriously bashed up pair of Alpinestar race boots from the sports-bike riding days. These are falling apart, but I find there's more "feel" on these.

I had a pair of Sidi race boots too, but these were hell on my toes, ending up with corns and often cramps in the feet!

RiDE mag seems to be recommending "adventure" boots for road riding in their most recent print.

Any wide-footed foccers on here? Would love a recommendation for a summer pair please. In the £100 range, as I don't feel I need Alpinestar race boots again.

Thx

I always found Sidis to be narrow, but then I think they started to do a wider fit version of the Black Rain; sometime ago though, and very unhealthy for your bank balance!

Oh Christ yeah, couldn't really be worse now, could they!  :lol

In fact, looking at them again, they're VERY similar - I have seen boots under a different name that are the same before now. Made in the same factory to the same spec.

Yes, but the Frank Thomas ones are similar. I'm looking for a summer boot with a wider fitting.

I'm thinking of getting a pair of Altbergs, they've made me extra wide boots for normal use.

Have you tried Puma boots? I've got wide feet and big calves and at the time in J&S these were the only ones I was comfortable in.
Not claimed to be waterproof but have never leaked and are super comfy.

I haven't. Will do, there's a J&S close to me. Thanks for that tip! :-)
