It is bud, pound for pound probably the best bike I've ever bought. It was proper fun in the winter...You can even take it out on the dirt, living in a farm house I often cut across the fields ( not so much now they have seeded lol) to follow the river wensum into the city, just for a very pleasant change. Gotta avoid the wet stuff obviously, otherwise you spend more time digging the mud out between your front tyre and the mudguard with a stick than you do riding...

thanks dude..its got 42,000 miles up but dont burn oil, they are deffo a good lump, think the 900cc hyde kit has been on it more or less from new, pipes are straight through hydes too, but it seems to be jetted well for (you gotta love carbs), certainly bottom end is strong even too up. its got a great vibe, you just gotta resist the temptation to try and jump a fence every now and then.. ;)

That's sounds ear splitting.  Just as well you live out of the way on a farm!
Don't fancy that firing up next door when I'm having a lie in :eek :grumble

VNA's been thinking aboot a second bike (or 3rd assuming I get my 1974 C90 back one day)

For some reason I keep dreaming of Aprilia SL1000's (Falco)

Bonnie looks like fun though.

Uh huh..ride close enough and It sets parked car alarms off, you gotta love that about it too..
You could do a lot worse than get an early carbed Bonnie mate, though it's gotta be black, noisy and unkempt, with what little chrome there is covered in permadirt...

Penny is a good un, far better than I deserve, we met kinda late in life but we are making up for it  :)

I can see the attraction.  Did you change the bars?  Like the slightly dodgy number plate, does blend in nicely.

Other bike I've had on my mind is an early to mid 90's Speed Triple.

I'm in no hurry though, might buy something this year, or it might be next.

Yup bars are one inch harley items mate, triumph do switchgear in that size too so that's handy...them early speed triples are gorgeous, heavy but a lovely looking bike

Ogri, how comes you've got a black plate on there? Is it actually an 04 bike?

Nice one Ogri. The bike sounds good mate. I loved the wee rear wheel skid too  :thumbup , although you could have got a wheelie in imo...

It's an o4 bud, there's a legal plate underneath the black one if I get stopped I'll try the old " had it on for a show, forgot, but carrying an Allen key and spanner I'll swap em"  excuse, but truth be told I don't think I will it looks like pre 72 bike at a glance.

Mate I did a hoooooge wheelie, in between pulling away and coming around the corner, the missus missed it..damn impressive it was too, crossed up, on gravel, one handed, standing on the seat...... ;)

You mean you didn't jump through a flaming hoop and leap over the tractor?  :rolleyes  That's just soft man. I always do that when exiting my driveway, after blasting right through the shut garage door.  :lol

Yeah the bars set it off nicely.  I think out of the crate they all look a bit, well, odd.  But a few mods and they really start to look like good old proper British bikes.

I borrowed an early Daytona for the day from a bike shop years and years ago.  I loved it but it was to big and heavy for me then as an everyday bike.   Dealer was a bit peeved when I handed it back 200 miles later and said naw.  He then threw the keys at me for the old 900 sprint, it was closing time on Saturday, he said bring it back Monday evening, but I declined.  A rare thing that was a dealer that sold bikes by actually letting people try em out!   Bought a 94 18mnth old CBR600F instead.

Those old speed triples are all so wrong, but somehow they just look so right.  And I still remember the big grin I wore all day on the Daytona which is pretty much the same thing.

Ogri, you just look so right on that thing - can't now picture you in "proper" gear ( :rolleyes) on an FZ1. Been out on mine in jeans and trainers today  :eek just feels so much more natural to me as that's how I always used to ride. Can't wear all the protection as summer comes around - way too hot for me, plus, old dogs/new tricks an all that.

Amen to that brother, I'm all for the proper gear on a seriously fast ride, but there's summat about just flinging on a jacket and gloves, not just the freedom it feels like your enjoying but the nostalgia of the days when you rode in that gear because it was all you ( and your mates) had.
It's funny how your biking life can go full circle as you get older, you end up riding summat that gives you the same feeling you had when you started messing about on field bikes over the old airfield..if I could only have one, it would be that trumpet, I just don't do the miles or big runs that I used to. As cool as it may have looked spinning up outta the drive and through the paddock, I'm glad none of you saw me coming back, with a carrier bag with two big cartons of craven dales finest hanging off me bars... :)
