Righto guys,
I know this has been covered in a fair bit of length in the past - but the STD. mirrors are bollocks (especially if your a fat foccer like me). I know the simple answer is to probably stay off the pies, but I like 'em, so there.
Is there any good alternatives to help the mirrors out? I did a bit of reading into the Fuzzyone mirror mod, here:
http://www.yamahafz1oa.com/fuzzyonesstockmirrormod.shtml (http://www.yamahafz1oa.com/fuzzyonesstockmirrormod.shtml)
I dont like the look of them in the end though. I also dont like bar end mirrors, or ones on the bars.
Ive saw those spacer things that push the mirrors further forwards off the fairing, aside from being on the expensive side (~£50 for a spacer?) are they any use?
If its soemthing thats useful, I might have a crack at making my own set up - really want to keep an OEM sort of look, but just add a bit more functionality to a really shitty standard item.

dont you get wider if you breathe in (filling your lungs with air?) (http://hyves-smileys.immerblei.com/img/smiley_eyes.gif) (http://hyves-smileys.immerblei.com/img/smiley_eyes.gif) (http://hyves-smileys.immerblei.com/img/smiley_eyes.gif)
If only breathing in changed the width of my shoulders then yes, that would be a great shout :rolleyes :lol

Just a thought,,(usually wrong though) :lol

I tried the blocks & the stem swap mod. Neither did much for me. Blocks just move mirrors forward not out enough to make a difference. Stem swap just showed my hands in mirrors instead of elbows.
-
Just look over your shoulder its easier ;)

Bar end mirrors?

Bar end mirrors?
Did you read the OP ;)
I still do lifesavers when appropriate bigralphie, would just like to see a bit more around me that's all.
Sounds like the spacers are not the answer. Maybe I can make up some spacers to widen the mirrors, but I suppose that will bring with it an increase in vibeyness.

I meant I have never had a great mirror set up on any bike :'(
-
Put bar ends on mine after seeing them on DY's bikes, they take a little bit of getting used to, wouldn't be without em now.
-
mine on the fz1s are very good, are they any different to gen 1s ?
-
I did the fuzzy thing and am impressed.... No going back to standard for me.

Yeah, they're wider.
As Apage16 found out when he went to put thou mirrors on his 600!! He bought Gen 2 mirrors rather than Gen 1. Looked different!! :lol

Affach one of those mirrors that car drivers use when they are towing a caravan!
-
hmmm. I might try the fuzzyone mod first then - see what sort fo difference it makes (certainly looks as though the mirrors are further out)

Have you seen the rider scan mirror, some police and ambulance bikes use them. About £40 on eBay
http://www.huntercreate.com/ (http://www.huntercreate.com/) manufacturer

RiderScan Independant Review (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N63vq0bmBlI#ws) in use
RiderScan First Impression (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUXirMiJNMM#ws) fitted to an FZS600
Its fine on a fazer screen as it is not as curved as the screen in the first video.
I also use a Reevu rear view crash helmet which I wouldn't be without now. http://www.reevu.com/motorsports/what-you-see/ (http://www.reevu.com/motorsports/what-you-see/)

You can mount them on the handlebars, looks good, plenty of choice for them on ebay, you can get a bracket for the clutch side, or I think the fz1 or 8 naked clutch perch will fit, it has the threaded bit to put the mirror in, you can even get a converter to put different size threads in as well.

You could put an old wardrobe door across the front,,real wide mirror and also a real good fairing :lol
