I'm in the proses of getting a CB radio on the bike, though I'm after a system where I can have music playing while the radio is not receiving, and mutes the music for the radio.
has anyone got any solutions to this?

I've never heard of a solution. And you would think that if a cheap easy solution existed it would he something taxi drivers would integrate into their radios as well... Stranger things have happened though :)

found 2 solution, but both very expensive (partly due to shipping from USA)
Rugged radios make a headset that takes a 3.5mm input along with one from a radio (£250 for just the headset)
J & M make one designed for a bike with an MP3 input (~£300 for just the radio, not inc antenna etc...)

Depends on what exactly you want to achieve, talk to friends on other bikes or scanning the airwaves
But what about bike intercoms with radios attached, my Autocom unit has multiple inputs for music, sat-nav, radios etc. and when you or whoever you are conected to (passenger or 2nd bike) speak the music is muted.
I expect other good makes of intercoms do the same.

I use a cheap chinese Bluetooth headset that connects to my phone, and made a cable to connect it to my two way radio with a push to talk button. Cheap and cheerful, but works superbly!
I suppose you could do the same and get a cable made up for your CB.

problem with bluetooth is it can only be paired with one person, and then you need to keep it paired.

I am moving from Scala Rider to Autocom with Kenwood proTalk radio push to talk system. I am fitting this tomorrow and is for bike to bike communication but is only as good as the frequencies it can be programmed too to ensure compatibility to other peoples system. I will be hooking up a Sat Nav and MP3 hard wired. The system can also be used for rider to pilly chat. They are not cheap but can get decent stuff off the bay.

I use a PMR radio/headset from Maplin to keep in contact with my son, wife, GarethG etc when out on the bike. Each person has their own headset and radio but only costs about £40-50 per person and can take additional inputs if you get the right radio.

Bluetooth can only be paired with one person?? Don't think so. Some BT headsets can pair up with 8 other users for inter-bike comms. Well, as far as I know anyway.

There's no couriers anymore. There all company bitches bitchin on about foc all. Ur better off with bike to bike comms if u ride in a group. Much more fun than yakkin to a lorry driver. (Apart from bigsteve).

I used to have CB in the car in the late 90s, was great fun and provided some entertainment when stuck in traffic, having a chat with the truckers.

I've just got a cobra 600 pmr with the 2.5 mm single jackplug, and a maplin ptt headset. I had to make the connecting cable that I plug in to my Bluetooth headset. So the radio is hard wired on ptt, and my phone is to Bluetooth.
It's pretty good really, because I've got music playing, but the radio takes priority when tx/rx, and the music cuts back in again when you've finished talking.
I'm just too tight arsed to pay crazy money for autocom stuff.

cheers for the help, realised that ive got my dads old Starcom1 knocking about (he took it off to replace with the bluetooth one)
so now im just the £15 connector to a midland radio away :)

I thought that the walkie talkie option used the same 1 to 8 channels as CBs, is that correct

I used to have a set up on my pushbike back in the early eighties. Do people still go on them.
I've got my hand in my pocket and I'm off like a rocket you've spoke to the best now speak to the rest chow chow for now 10-10 out ;)

Slim, PMR use a different set of channels to CB radio and no licence is needed either (unlike CB)

Jesus, what memories, I had a midland AM CB in my Datsun!!!!
and then as usual the UK foocced it up and made ours FM that was shite
1-4 for a copy :)

Ah yes. They removed the licence requirement in 2006.
