Title: Fazer parts prices - Engine ingested small screw
Post by: Craiginuk on 06 April 2014, 10:37:11 pm
Does anyone have a list of fazer parts prices please? Tank, wheels, fairing, seat, frame etc.  i'm considering stripping a very clean silver fazer 99 model that has just ingested a small screw. Long story...

Anyway, want rid of bike now but think most economically viable solution may be to sell as spares minus engine.  Does anyone have a list showing going rates for parts please?  Thanks Craig

Have a look at the Fazerspares website.

As someone who has done it:

You'll get much, much more for the bike if you sell it whole. And you won't be left with a small mysterious pile of parts no-one wants or needs.

So don't do it, clean it up, stick it on Ebay or autotrader.

lol re screw.  I think I can talk about it now...

Bike was running rough low down as had been standing so I took the bank of carbs off to strip and clean them.  I did not drain coolant but instead plugged both of the carb heater lines with small M4 or M5 screws to stop coolant peeing everywhere.

Caried on and got carbs off but then saw puddle of coolant ungder bike.  looked at one of the carb heater lines and the screw was nowhere to be seen. Pipe was close to inlet to number 3 cylinder but figured chances of it going in would have been very slim.

Anyway put all back together last night, started.  Sounded really good low down untill ping ping ping rattle clunk. I am guessing it is lodged in head against valve or has made it's way into combustion chamber.  It did not sound happy..

A long shot I know...take the head off and have a look, it might just be head/valve damage and easy to fix.... ;)

Yep now that I've calmed down - might take the head off and see what the damage is.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for a full engine rebuild!

Yep if I was keeping her.  Sadly she is moving on to make space for other toys.
