Got chores to do this morning (half of em done) but if the rest get finished in a timely manner, I might chuck the tent on the bike and head for Erwlon campsite at Llandovery so I can make best use of Sunday for a good bit of exploring. Anyone else about that way?
-
Sounds like a good forecast this weekend-wish I could be there today but soon hopefully!
-
Ive got mothers day duties on sunday (shes 85) but im going there next week whenever the weather is good. Enjoy Nick.
-
Hope to be at Llandovery by 5/6pm ish. Will either be at the campsite or in the West End café this evening. I've got an idea for a ride for Sunday heading north on smaller mountain roads, so won't be a hooning trip, but will decide as I go. (Never ridden Horseshoe Pass for instance).
-
Too early, I'm considering going on monday

Cheers Noggy. Pushed it to the absolute limit today; 447 miles, plus 124 miles yesterday from home to campsite. I think I still need about 2 weeks holiday in Wales - can't get enough of the place!
Was going to try to get photos of Flint and Rhuddlan castles, but it was gone 3pm by the time I left the Ponderosa café on the Horseshoe Pass, so turned around and headed home - scenic route!
Absolutely shattered now, but well worth it :)
-
Now just stop it!!!! Or we'll all have to get our tents out....
Looks like you had a good un. :D

Swings and round abouts we get overtime for working the extra hour and don't lose the hr if lucky enough to be working on that nightshift too. I'm just now coming to miss them both now or in the case of yesterday lose an hr sleep :(
Do you feel any better now :b

im going tuesday now cos the weather looks ok, im packed and ready to go.

Have a good one Bri, hope you do get the weather. Wasn't even chilly at night/early morning, but I'd take a warm layer for the campsite just in case.
Guess who's throwing a sickie today :rolleyes Over did it really, but worth it! :b
BST clock change worked out ok for me. Forgot the clocks changed on Saturday, thought it was Sunday, but we can now all ride later into the evening with daylight - can see me overdoing it some more! Work sucks anyway...

Nice trip,,i was in Tretower last night,,small world

Cheers nick. I covered over 300 miles in one day last year cos i got lost. Haha. I suffered a bit then but it was worth it. Im planning on a couple of loops from landovrey one west and one north. I hope to get sime pics but dont hold your breath as im not too clever with technology..
-
only just seen this, good on ya nick! u get about a bit!
Ah, funny you should resurrect this thread Fizzy, might be doing another epic this weekend - a lot of ground can be covered in 4 days :)
And the weather forecast (so far) looking good for it :) :) 8)
Now, if only this time I can spot the scameras :rolleyes
-
Nick, Ian has contacted me , he wants another trip to Wales , if weather is good on Sunday,,may meet up with you.

Oh shit :eek
I was planning on exploring loads of the little mountain roads in the hope of going a bit slower and keeping away from the scameras! :lol
Ok, so I'll do that on Fri and Sat, meet you guys somewhere for Sunday - you two lead :D
-
Nah, we dont need all fast roads, mountain mix will be great,,sort summat out,,maybe for us here , a reverse route to Bala and meet you there , or you come over here saturday night
Oh , are they talking rain :'(
-
Ill check details bearer the time.
But sunday i could make something at apush.
3 hours kip should see me fine but that still means no Aber or llandovery til circa 1330hrs...lif yous happen to be round a y those areas about then.
If it's bala then im focced
But dont go adjusting anything for me.....
& keep it slow geezers...bank holiday.....bikes.....equals police speed campaign....yous knows it!!!!
-
Can go your way,,any way, who cares,,as long as its fun
-
It doesn't look like Sunday will be good for it at the moment. So I might head home first thing Sunday morning if the forecast doesn't improve. Thought it would be too much to hope for decent weather for the whole bank holiday - possibly illegal? Or against the laws of physics even? :rolleyes
-
Well, had a good couple of days back in Wales AGAIN :rolleyes
Did have a couple of moments: nearly running out of fuel along the road from Bala to Trawsfynydd - half way along and getting towards dinner time, looked down and, oh shit! Slowed down, praying I'd find a petrol station soon (middle of nowhere and a bank holiday? :eek ) Got lucky, as a little place was open at Traws.
Coming back along the sublime A470, suddenly, sirens and blue flashing lights behind me - checked mirrors - oh shit, bike copper. Indicated in, he flashed past, and past the car I'd been following at between 60-70 for the last few miles; bet he was just having a bit of fun as that road is blinding. Thought of chasing him....er, maybe not :lol
So, getting late on the way home yesterday, turned onto the A40 to find the road blocked - a bad accident, didn't get close enough to see what had happened, but emergency vehicles up the yin yang, air ambulance attending. Copper drives back to queue of held up traffic - you won't be getting through here anytime soon, he says. So a backtrack, cross the Usk, tiny little country road, barely even single track - wonder if I'm lost? :rolleyes Sun right in my eyes, but can't open the visor for a clearer view as too many flies - just got a face full every time I tried. Finally got back onto A40 on other side of accident, and home.
So, a few pics, and what a bugger it's been trying to get these to load :pc :wall

Don't those views & roads make your heart sing, Nick? Wales was created for bikes! :lol
-
On days like Fri & Sat Dave, with the sunshine, there's no place I'd rather be. There was a bit of BH traffic in the usual places, Betws, Llanberis etc, but plenty of roads that were empty too. Getting to know my way around rather well!
-
looked like fun,,dating sheep :lol
that yellow bike gets about,,any scamera photos? :eek
-

Foc I hope not!!!! :'(
I was very careful, but you know what it's like ;)
Oh, and nothing unpleasant waiting on the A494 Corwen/Bala road on Saturday - after Fizzy's post of that BBC article, I was expecting hundreds of scameras, coppers jumping out from behind every lamp post - nada. Quite disappointed in a way :lol
-
Stayed in Pen y bont campsite near Bala Friday night , temperature plummeted in the night down to zero , woke up freezing , we got in the cage at 6.45am to warm up , I thought the duvet would keep us warm , anyone recommend a good double sleeping bag .
-
Nice one esetest - yeah, was ice on the inside of my tent in the early hours Sat morning (camped at Cae Du, Beddgelert). I pulled on thermal long johns and a down filled shirt in the sleeping bag and was then snug as a bug - used a silk bag liner too.
Down sleeping bags are better than synthetic, warmer weight-for-weight. Unfortunately, bloody expensive too, but worth it if you do a lot of camping. But you must keep them dry!
That last photo is the viewpoint in Nantgwynant - know it well and was there myself Fri evening and then again Sat morning - wonder if we passed eachother? :lol Crib Goch on the right, Snowdon on it's left, just peeking over the top.
-
We left Snowdonia mountain railway , at 10.45am , I put directions to Bristol via Brecon , so from Snowdonia , sat nav took us toward Harlech , I did see a yellow and black fazer but I think that was further down the A470 . The third photo was view from a B road off the A470 , tricky road with lots of twisties , had to take avoiding action to miss a guy riding a bmw as he came round a blind bend on our side of the road .
-
great pictures ...have to venture into wales myself this year...thanks for sharing the pictures guys :)
-
- used a silk bag liner too.
Oh what am I letting myself in for? Has he mentioned the mirrored tent roof yet :eek

I always used to use two quilts one on top one to lay on. Such luxury :)

A bit of snoring I can hack....it was the inane whistling at 4 o'clock in the morning that worried me...... :lol
(Has anyone else noticed that when you highlight a lol emoticon, it goes a bit mental..........)

Ok, i will make her stop dribbling and put a pillow over her mouth next time you are sleeping in the orchard :lol :lol

By the way i forgot to say....real nice pics of Wales there.
Why do people go abroad with scenery like that on their doorstep?.
By forgot...i mean i was too foccin jealous!
Here's some more sheep.
