Title: Servicing
Post by: Mowjoe on 27 March 2014, 05:53:22 pm
My 2012 Fazer8 has 2500 miles on her. It had the 1st service at 600 miles in sept 2012. Next is due at 6000 miles but that could be 2 years hence. So would you get it serviced for the sake of a stamp in the book or just wait for 6000 miles to come up. The handbook only says check annually.  :rolleyes

My 2012 only has 1600 miles on the clock but I am having a oil and filter change done just to make be sure the oil is not breaking down and to be on the safe side.

to be honest the amount of time I get to ride it will take me about 5 years to get it to 6000 miles so prevention is better then cure.

You really want the dealer to be doing the recommended servicing whilst the bike is under warranty.

If you don't and something goes wrong, you wont have a leg to stand on.

Providing you use a VAT Registered garage it will not affect your warranty and they can also stamp your book  we have done this with both brand new cars and bikes.

Definitely cover yourself if bike still under warranty. For anyone doing low annual miles I would change oil & filter annually regardless of miles ridden. Not all service items are mileage related-some parts like brake seals/hoses/fluid & coolant are time-related. Service schedule gives info.
