Title: Footpegs
Post by: Fuzzy on 12 March 2014, 09:11:52 pm
I'm contemplating trying some different front footpegs instead of the standard ones which feel a bit clumsy and large.

I heard a few people have fitted R1/R6 footpegs to their Thous - does this mean they will fit the 600 too? Anybody tried?

Plenty of cheap patterns found on Ebay:

Possibly need to get something to lengthen the gear change rod with the 40mm ones depending where you adjust them to.
More expensive than what you were getting at but can make the bike more custom to your needs

Thanks Punkstig. Doesn't look like those would affect the gear change rod, though I guess if the peg is adjusted far back it might be too much of a distance to the gear lever/brake pedal, esp for my size 7 feet.

These rearsets look great and about half the price of Gilles, still a heck more than the r1 pegs though.

R1 foot pegs are too small (short at the cam end) for the stock fazer 600 bracket (and angles wrong too) - I guess if you got the peg and mounting bracket you could mod it to fit but the bracket is nothing like the mounting on a fazer.

Thanks Ponkster - I ordered a pair yesterday but it wasn't even a tenner so not a big deal, should've been more patient though doh!

At one time there used to be an abundance of cheap aftermarket pegs for the FZS600, now there seem to be few about, even on ebay.

There are however more for the FZS1000 about, wonder if they'd fit? I thought the standard FZS1000 pegs were the same as the FZ600's  :\

Like these?

Thundercat pegs are the same so maybe more choice there

I actually use  rear peg on the right side of my bike, with the rear brake. It's obviously far smaller, but literally the only time I've noticed any problems with it is when I am rolling the bike backwards. Your ankle can catch on it, and it doesn't move because it's bolted in rather than sprung...

So, don't lose faith in the R1 one's, if they fit, you might be happy. If so, post a pic of them fitted, I'm intrigued.

They're on their way from China so I'll let you know if they fit or not and whether they're any good if they do!
