Ok folks, the new thread for 2014.
A reiteration of the rules.
1. All challenges must be of YOUR bike and a landmark, or something obscure or creative, something most people can ride to in their area.
2. Picture has to be taken after challenge is made.
3. Challenge is good for a week; if it is not met after that time, the previous picture poster picks a new challenge.
4. Nothing illegal to be challenged.
5. Keep comments to a minimum; if you comment, post the current challenge in bold type after your comment.
6. No repeat challenges.
7. No other bikes can be used, eg, your bike next to a Ducati. Some exceptions will be allowed, eg, your bike next to a bike cop.
8. Only 1 person can win each challenge; any other entrants will not be counted, due to throwing the whole game off track and adding challenges that don't stand.
9. If any dispute about a challenge occurs, 3 oks from others settles the challenge.
Remember, this thread is supposed to get people to want to go ride straight away and beat others to the challenge - be creative, but be sensible about it.
Right, I'll set the first one to save any faffing around.
YOUR BIKE NEXT TO A FLOODED FIELD.

I would think the scores will be carrying over, just a fresh thread with clearer rules?

Bit pointless really. I thought I'd give this a go this year as it does encourage me to get out on the bike. First, Paul's piss-take and now this. Why?
It's done properly on another forum I use, and is enjoyable for that. I had actually started to look forward to the challenges as, although I don't have a mobile device to post from, and can't get out during working days to do it, I'd still give it a shot.
Poor show folks. :(
-
Did'nt mean to take the piss nick :\...the steam loco was going to be hard at this time of year.just wanted to keep things moving and everyone interested......its a great challenge and did get me out on a wet and windy day........thank you for taking it on, I'll try a bit harder next time .........promise :rolleyes
-
I did it on the last one with a plane flying over your bike
(held a bosch planer over it)
And in the interest of moving somthing on I think its ok and can give a chuckle
I like your proof of steam for eg
-
Come on BBB....come clean or set a new challenge.....iam using the bike tomorrow and need a honest point :rolleyes
-

Got a good laugh from that, but when it got accepted by the challenge poster, I thought it a bit out of order.
Great to have some banter - real reason I'm annoyed? Cos I'm off tomorrow and want to have a crack at one, even though I'm busy first thing! :lol I was actually going to do the post box one - found where there was one in Oxford, was going to nip home after work for a bite, then leg it 20 miles up the A40 - damn, beaten to it! But fair and square, so that was ok.
Funny BBB, that looks like Inverary, you live in Glasgow. So, ok I thought, maybe he's got a mobile thingy and happened to be down that way. Then fazersharp points out the flaws, and then I remembered you posted about a ride down there last year. Rumbled pal! :lol
-
Rule 1. Nobody is to be caught not drinking!
2. Picture has to be taken after challenge is made.
3. Challenge is good for a week; if it is not met after that time, the previous picture poster picks a new challenge.
Remember, this thread is supposed to get people to want to go ride straight away and beat others to the challenge - be creative, but be sensible about it.
Rule 4. Noooooo pooftahs!
Not everyone can have a crack at a challenge during the week due to work commitments etc, hence rule 3.
And I doubt I'll make this one either :\:
Current challenge: YOUR BIKE NEXT TO AN OCEAN-GOING SHIP
-
One 350 mile ride later:
-
And the next challenge? :lol :lol
C'mon Nick! Keep up! :rollin :rollin
(Great pic, BTW!)
-
nice one nick.....south wales ?.....going to exeter tomorrow,i`ll leave me camera at home :\
-
Sharpness on the Severn Paul. Was going to go to Avonmouth to try and get it, but someone said that Sharpness has a lot of container ships going in and out, and as I had to go to Cirencester this morning, it seemed easy to get to.
Hope this boat is big enough fazersharp? It is ocean-going :D
If accepted, the next challenge is:
YOUR BIKE NEXT TO A RESERVOIR DAM
e.g.:
-
Hope this boat is big enough fazersharp? It is ocean-going (http://foc-u.co.uk/Smileys/efocicon/cheesy.gif)
Yehh - thats more like it - the others were piddly fishing boats
Well done !
-
Hmmm 7.8 Miles from nearest reservoir - What am I doing tomorrow?

Don't tell me me he's gone for a ride out for miles and misread the challenge?!! Are we now waiting til he actually finds a dam? :lol
Challenge is still open if someone else got it - you'd best hurry Fizzy! (Hmmm, wonder what I can find on Saturday....)
Current challenge:
YOUR BIKE NEXT TO A RESERVOIR DAM
-
You know if you went out on that middle earth ride out that you will be passing right past a reservoir dam at Rutland water and you could have a mass photo challenge
-
great minds ;)
-
Aye, good shout Fizzy, all I can see is damn wall :eek
Read your rules Nick :lol

take it or leave it im not arsed
Cheeky bugger!
Not like you didn't enlarge the photo after first posting it :rolleyes
And the challenge was "next to a reservoir dam" - the reservoir is not required to be in the pic ;)
And then I could be REALLY pedantic and point out that the challenge was "your bike NEXT TO a reservoir dam", not 2 foccin miles away from it! :rolleyes :lol
Ok, in the proper spirit of the game and to save further argument, if 3 people ok it Fizzy, you got it. Fair enough?
BBB, Fazersharp = x2 oks
One more for the win.
-
I am willing to let him have it
-
hes made a good effort, got him out on his bike......let him have it as the weekends nearly here and we need a new challenge ;)
-
That's 3 oks, good enough for me, your win Fizzy :thumbup
I actually agree that it got someone out on their bike, but wanted to make sure we were going to play by the rules, and introduce a new one: if any disputes arise, 3 oks from others and the challenge response wins. I'll put this on the rules post at start of thread.
Next challenge:
YOUR BIKE AND SOME DAFFODILS GROWING BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD
-
Any good? :-)
-
Bit of a sad pathetic display and the electric box just adds to the beauty of the scene, im sure its not the tranquil beauty the challenger had in mind.
But it does fit the bref so it has to be a pass from me
-
None around here yet - don't think I've seen any at all this year so good effort finding some demic.
Next challenge?

Hoping to get myself a decent camera/phone gadget thingy soon, so might have a better chance of a few more wins in future!
-
Well, doesn't look like anyone's going to get this. How about a different challenge?
-
Could we not amend it to Your bike next to a real horse,
Might be a touch easier, plus they're more readily available :)

-
A point well earned, well done nick..........going to give chris evans a call in the morning ;)

-
No one looking to get this then? Time for a new one?
Your bike next to a Ferrari that isn't red
-
I passed a yellow one on the way into Mossley the other day, it was quite camera shy and didn't hang about long enough for a snap :-(
-
Time for a new one I reckon Nick.
-
Ok, to get things moving again I'll try to make this one easier.
Your bike next to a timber-framed pub
-
oh you could of told me earlier :(
-
oh you could of told me earlier :(
So what's the problem? Light enough for a lot of folks to do this after work now :)
Or you could find one right now - don't have to wait for daylight if it's lit well enough to confirm it ;)
Your bike next to a timber-framed pub
-
A dark blue Ferrari has driven past my house 3 times in as many days, just didn't have the bike out, or the camera for that matter.

Good job that man! Next challenge?
-
If someone makes the challenge "your bike sat in its garage with the head and block sat on a workbench" I could complete that one I would think.
It's been 10 days since my bike was last on the road, and it is killing me.
-
Next Challenge - Your bike next to a Ferris Wheel
T'is spring fair season after all.
-
Time for a new challenge?
-
Bump for any LoFo with the London Eye?
-
There's a fair next weekend nearish to me, but no sign of a Ferris wheel there yet.
-
OK then... how about an easy one to move things along, plus it'll get you all out in the countryside.
Your bike next to a field of oil seed rape.
I'll leave the one the wife came up with for another time (hopefully)
-

Your bike next to an ice cream van

Bugger ! I should have had a look on the forum before riding home from work, lovely afternoon so came home a more scenic route ( and took off the squaring on rear tyre) even stopped off for a bloody ice cream ( had to ogle the scantily clad females, rude not too).
Will check before leaving tomorrow
your bike next to an ice cream van
-
Next challenge....Your bike with a pier in the background.
-
Think it's best to stick with a traditional seaside pier to prevent any bitching. Unless, of course it looks like this....
-
2nd again :\
your bike with a peir in the back ground
-
Lambs and a horrible red thing... this could lead to unexpected results from the Welsh!! :lol :lol :lol
-
Worth a try perhaps:
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/EasterBankHolidayTripApril2014004_zpsda056c99.jpg~original) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/EasterBankHolidayTripApril2014004_zpsda056c99.jpg.html)
Some of the small white dots on the hillside are definitely lambs :b
-
Fair enough - 2 days in Wales, hundreds of miles covered, sheep everywhere, an all I get is distant dots :rolleyes Hardly worth going really... :lol

You can find your closest (or not so closest) one at
http://www.ancient-tree-hunt.org.uk/discoveries/interactivemap (http://www.ancient-tree-hunt.org.uk/discoveries/interactivemap) zoom in to your local area and they should appear all over the place. Amazing what you miss sometimes.
Now... I want you guys to really try with this one, I know it might seem boring, no yellow Ferraris, Cafes, or Ice Cream Vans, but at least you'll be out in nature...... :b
(This is the one the wife suggested)
-
OK, so this is tree no.6491 on the B2163 in the village of Tunstall in Kent. It's a common yew tree and there are no plaques on it so you're just have to take my word. It could of course just be a random tree and I'm a cheating bastard. I'll let you decide Tree 6491 (http://www.ancient-tree-hunt.org.uk/recording/tree.htm?tree=7e103490-55d3-41a0-aa19-416ba580751e)

-
does that mean the bike has to be in a church?
Idea came whilst riding back from that last shot - I passed a church where I would have been able to park on the road and get the shot ;)
House window is fine :) Not your own house though (I'll be watching you.... :eek ) :lol
-
Techically more than two, but hopefully you'll be lenient.
-
Your bike with a garden gnome, that is not owned by you.
Extra kudos if it's in an unusual pose, and sat on your bike.
:)

-
Okey doke...
Your bike outside a Lido
Plenty of them still around.
-
Still around, yes, not many of them called Lido's anymore. Will an open air swimming pool do ?
-
I didn't even realise that's what a Lido was - I thought it was a name of a shop or something!
-
We still have one in Peterborough called The Lido.... at least that's what everyone round here calls it :D
I suppose an open air swimming pool will do.
Try http://homepage.ntlworld.com/oliver.merrington/lidos/index.html#_Toc2087915 (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/oliver.merrington/lidos/index.html#_Toc2087915)

Should have posted it on mobile but it's such a gaff with my steam powered phone
-
Get yourself out on the next LoFo ride out Ally and we'll have that coffee. :thumbup Next challenge....Your bike next to a yellow car, not yours.
-
Hardly seems worth trying. I was going to nip out to the Peterborough Lido but missed that one and hadn't even got my jacket on before the prison one was won. No doubt someone will post a picture of their bike with a yellow car before I've even got the cover off the bike!
-
That yellow enough

Moor Park bowling green this morning (on way to work...). Unfortunately the signs were removed - I can only guess that they are having new diamonds set in the lettering or the solid gold signposts are away for polishing or further embellishment.

-
oooo beaten by a faster red bike, that's got to sting a bit.. :)
I once had a red Micra, and that was the slowest thing on this earth. Was totally the paint job, not the car that caused that. So by my logic you have the slowest bike in the world.
Next Challenge: Your bike outside a hairdressers - bonus point if you get someone getting a new "do" through the window.
-
No way, micros never came in red, but boy racers on a budget painted them red to make them look faster. :rollin
-
Next challenge...your bike with a cricket game being played in the background, players dressed in whites

Passed a game at Charlbury today, but couldn't park anywhere to get the shot :\

Next Challenge:
Your bike next to a chavved up car. The chavvier the better. (EDIT: Can't be your own car :p )
-
Seeing as it's been a week.... how about this one.
Not so much chavved up as modded to buggery. The only original parts on it are the body shell and rear windows. Can't really tell from the photo as he wants to keep it as subtle as possible. From the inside you can see the real difference from standard.
(http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l109/risticuss/Mobile%20Uploads/20140522_122928_zpszz6eitai.jpg) (http://s94.photobucket.com/user/risticuss/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140522_122928_zpszz6eitai.jpg.html)

What is the secret to getting images up from elsewhere on the site? If someone fixes it then the image is of my S2 in front of the home of the navy there's bound to be a warship out there in Pompey harbour somewhere.

Great piccie.... :thumbup......lets keep this going, whats the next challenge ?
-
Next challenge, your bike next to a local point of interest.
So, nothing like "This is Big Ben" but something that the locals are proud to point out, preferably with some means to back it up. Such as the phone box at Dunsop Bridge being the geometric center of Great Britain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunsop_Bridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunsop_Bridge) (even though it isn't exactly, but the locals will tell you about it all day long).
-
Mmmmmm...goooooooood challenge......thats got me thinking ;)
-
thats got me thinking ;)
That's dangerous. :lol :lol
-
Cheeky foccer :lol........this really is a good challenge, at first I thougt it easy but the more I think about it its not.....ive got an idea and its going to get me on my bike this afternoon, going to visit the village where I was born that has a well known venue that a lot of you will know for one reason...but all is not what it seams......I'll let NORTHWESTERN be the judge....
-
Ok.not sure if this is good enough or not, but it did give me an extra hour on my fazer :thumbup.......bisham abbey, training ground for the english football team , been on tv loads of times when theres a big match coming up........everyone calls it bisham abbey, I know different, I was born 300yrds down the road and can remember christmas parties in the "great hall" of this great house.....yes.....its a manor house not an abbey, the abbey was close by but thats long gone now......all the locals call it an abbey, but there not true locals, right on the thames 8 miles down stream from henley the town has been taken over by the rich and famous pricing the locals out of the town.....NORTHWESTERN your challenge, is this good enough ?
-
Perfect :)

-
Ah, sorry hairnet, that challenge already done this round. Seems I missed it on the last leaderboard, apologies :o
And apologies to dazza, who won that one. Will update scores retrospectively (page 15).
You'll have to pick a different one, please.
-
a sporting arena that doesnt use a ball or any type of bat :lol
-
Not sure if this qualifies as it isn't an "arena" in the modern sense.... I couldn't think of anything else here that would be an arena not featuring balls/bats, perhaps the biggest would be the Manchester Velodrome. Most non ball grounds - athletics/cycleing here have closed/moved to the huge UCLAN sports complex and is more of a campus than an actual arena...
This is at Fishwick BMX track (a national race track) off London Road, Preston. I was going to attempt a crowd pleasing backward 360 off the table top but alas I couldn't get the bike through that gate there....
The club used to be at Deepdale where my brother and I would take our BMX's, it was bulldozed to make way for a Sainsburys before reopening here in 2005 or so. It is itself built on the old running track.
-
Bloody hell, don't leave your bike there at Fishwick for long, some bugger will rob it!!!
-
:rollin :rollin
my idea was gonna be either the velodrome or the aquatic centre in manc :D
but didnt use the bike today as car needed a tyre and an oil change for a trackday at zandvoort :D
-
Well, if my pic is acceptable the next challenge is your bike with a large public Xmas tree behind it (bonus points if there is also a nativity with sweet baby jesus!)
-
I think we might need a new challenge, or wait another 50 weeks.......

Mods, time to lock this thread. Someone else now needs to step in and take over the scoring and start the 2015 thread, as I'm going to be a bit too busy for a while, and might be without internet for a bit too.
