I'm got my shock, linkage and swing arm out and in bits and so therefore have the chain out to clean.
Whilst cleaning the front sprocket which is original with 21,000 miles on it in good condition i noticed that the orange anti vibration plastic on it is falling apart. Chain and rear sprocket is good as well.
Is this going to be a problem, should i change it whilst i can, or is a bit of plastic not going to course a problem if it fell off whilst spinning around?
cheers
Nick

Often wondered about this myself, can you even get them as a part
For those who have already replaced the sprocket and no longer have the part - here it is.

nice one fazersharp.
thats the kiddy, about a sixth has broken off both sides.

I would snap off what is going to come off and leave the rest
You do know about the 12mm vs 9mm sprocket nut saga dont you

Yeah mine is the 9mm one but i monitor it regularly.
Is this the heavy duty gold chain that most people seem to upgrade too?

I have never seen that thing in ma puff!!! My bike had a renthal chain and sprocket set up when I bought it and I recently changed it to a JT set up for durability. The quality seems good enough, although I have only managed about 50 miles with it so far. Bloody Scottish winter :rolleyes . I use my wee 125 during the worst of it you see.

Also, I changed the gearing. 1 down at the front and 1 up at the back. It makes a difference and I prefer it. I never hit top speed anyway, so I don't need long gears, but I do like to rip the throttle open and get the thing flying between the corners :D . 120mph is plenty IMO, especially when it pulls so much harder. A worthwhile trade off.

Are you talking about front wheel lifting up grunt, or just a bit nippier?
And i presume you don't need to alter the chain at all as far as links?
