If you are on a serious budget and need any of these items you might get a bargain, not sure what the quality will be like but the prices look OK.

I like the sound of the kevlar jeans!
-
Can't wait to see the queues of "dedicated Hell's Angels" at the checkouts! :lol
Boots at £29.99? Something not working for me there, but can't quite put my finger on it......

They can't be worse than the £50 boots I started with! Fell apart after a year!

I bought the jeans and neck warmer last year from there and they are okay for the money
-
I had a pair of the boots from Aldi before (not the exact same ones I imagine, but they were about that price anyway).
Believe it or not, they actually werent all that bad for the money. Once I moved up from the 50cc though I felt I needed to get something more proper.

Balaclavas, neck tubes, thermal base layers, ok. But when gear that is supposed to be protective in the event of an accident starts to be sold by such places at these kinds of prices, yes, I have my doubts. Maybe I just have a suspicious mind :\

I sort of agree but then think if someone who would not normally be able to afford even the basic protective gear buys this stuff because of its price it is surely better than wearing say jeans and a normal jacket.
Also maybe this stuff is as good as some of the stuff that is sold as "named" gear but without a massive markup.

Alas, I think this might be becoming all too true. With a lot of "top" brands now having their products manufactured in China, India, Croatia etc in order to reduce labour costs, the quality of these brands has undoubtedly shown a marked decline in recent years. This, apparently, also includes motorcycle manufacturers who once had a reputation for quality finish. It is not, in my mind, something to be encouraged however. Better for cheaper brands to improve than for the more trustworthy names to sink to their level.

CROATIA?? Really?

I bought the kevlar jeans last year. As said, good value for the money. Having said that, I haven't tried them out properly yet !
-
Aldi - German Hein Gerrick --- German, there must be a lot of stock laying around have they done a deal
-
CROATIA?? Really?
E.g., some Alpine Stars stuff now made in Croatia.

Hein Gericke Germany now appear to have a buyer (Spanish, I think). Large orders out to them recently.

I've had some Aldi boots for over 4 years, great kit and still going strong. Although they have changed them I noticed last year.
-
I bought a textile jacket off them a few years ago, supposedly waterproof. It was crap and I got piss wet through first rainstorm! I took it back and got a refund.
Saying that, I use the compression base layers from aldi, and they're very good!
-
I bought a textile suit form them several years ago. Was absolutely fine and waterproof. Only changed it because it looked really tatty after 2-3 years but still did what it was supposed to.
-
A bit of a quality control problem then???

I was about to say i bought a pair of ankle high boots from Lidl years ago and they lasted me for ages, and were really comfortable and of a solid build, and i paid something daft like £18 for them!

If its CE marked in comes under the Personal Protection Directives and will have to have been submitted for assessment by a notified body
That said its only the component providing the protection that is assessed (i.e. a pad etc) but unlike many CE products it is tested to a standard
-
I bought the boots 3 years ago from Aldi and they are fantastic, they have lasted me riding pretty much all year in most conditions and are actually waterproof as well. 3 years on with little care they look pretty much the same as when I bought them
-
Had summer gloves from there that are fine though lightly armoured and not waterproof. Also had a decent rainsuit and half decent tankbag too in the past.. only thing i wouldnt use would be the hrlmets. Rest is good for basic stuff on a budget till you can afford better kit
-
So who's going to test the kevlar jeans with a belt sander! :lol

I see you've just volunteered! :lol :lol :lol

I've bought a few things from Aldi before and I was very impressed. Particularly a wheel lock with built in alarm for 8 quid!
-
I bought a disc lock from them and after a couple of uses it wouldn't unlock..fortunately it was off the bike at the time. I took it back and tried the others they had and they were just as bad.
-
Beware cheap ALDI stuff. Like Henry Royce said: The quality remains long after the price is forgotten.

CROATIA?? Really?
I went to Hein Gericke in Hamburg last week, hoping for closeout bargains. But appears to be business as usual over there!
E.g., some Alpine Stars stuff now made in Croatia.
