So its my first bike with under seat storage (bar the TRX) and I'm wondering what you fine people carry in yours. I'll carry my disc lock and probably a bottle of water.
I'd like to hear your ideas / suggestions 8)
-
4 cans of stella
-
I lie, air compressor for the tyres!
-
For those without Stiggy's patent bazooka, I had the Yam toolkit, assorted bungees & cargo net, and a puncture repair kit. I bought a little compressor off ebay, but it didn't work off my 12V.
-
Large chain and padlock.
-
just the yamaha toolkit, a disklock, and a few bungee cords for me really.
occasionally if im out for the day ill stick a pack of mini jaffa cakes and a bottle of juice in there though :lol
-
500ml bottle of scottoil, spare headlamp assembly, mac air, iPad, laptop, flouro vest.
Wait, that's the top box...
Under the seat - Yamaha toolbox, rag, bulbs, scottoiler
-
12v power socket, puncture repair kit, spare headlight/tail light bulb, tomtom and 3 spanners for adjusting chain when out and about wrapped up in a rag.
-
Yam tool kit --- beefed up with some extra spanners pliers big cable ties. Puncture repair kit (think it was a hein gerick one with o2 canasters and a plug thing) short chain and padlock, stand puck and still got loads of room.Which reminds me about the mt09 its got enough room for a credit card.
-
Spare clutch and brake levers, wrapped in a rag
Spare bulbs headlight, indicator, plus stop & tail,
Puncture repair kit,
Plastic sides stand Puck,
6 pairs Nitrile Gloves,
Lock,
Yamaha toolkit with a few extra ring spanners.
-
Spare clutch and brake levers
Why so
Ok incase you crash yeh, I would think in an off they are still workable or in such an off that they were not then that would be the least of your worries
Or should I get some myself

A habit I got into from trail riding. :)
I had my bike knocked over years ago and the fall broke the brake lever. :'( It was a pain in the arse riding with it broken until I could get a replacement.
They take up so little space and it was a good a place as any to keep them. Better than getting lost in the garage :lol
-
I see - just the clutch would do spose
-
I've got a can of ACF-50 and a rag in a plastic bag
-
Yam, tool kit, puncture repair kit, compressed air, mini can of WD40, rolled up waterproof over trousers, wind up torch, ear plug.
-
I got nothing under my FZ1 seat apart from the Two Brothers tuning box. That's because there's no room for anything else! :'(
That's what my tailbag is for! (waterproof trousers, puncture kit, visor cleaning kit, small get you home repair kit, pen, large plastic bag, cargo net).
Thundercat's a different story, there's absolutely nothing in there. If I break down/puncture on the way to work, I just phone recovery!!
-

Waterproof trousers
Ear plugs

Possibly more...
-

- Multi-tool (intended for bicycles)
- Small aerosol of chain lube
- Cable ties

- Tyre pressure gauge
- Side stand puck
- Cargo net + 4 x bungees
- Spare brake & clutch levers (for the same reasons as Unfazed)
- First aid kit
- Hi-vis vest

- Large tough plastic bag for unexpected luggage (esp in wet weather)
- Shoei helmet bag, again for unexpected luggage
- Torch
- Ear plugs

I think that's it..... there is still space left for 2 or 3 cans of beer :D
-
Standard fazer toolkit, cable ties, some disposable gloves, couple of rags.
Chris
-
Yam toolkit, couple bungees, length of hose, cargo net, disc lock, and waterproofs. It's packed to the brim.
-
Mines a GenII so nothing.
Not even enough space to get a well oiled midget in there!
-
Does everybody fill up the sides as well?
I.e. Apart from the obvious area directly under where the pillion's bum would be, you can actually pack a lot of stuff down the sides too. From the outside, these are the plastic side body panels. Know what I mean?
I've got a decent sized first aid kit, chain lube can, & hi vis vest tucked down one side, and levers, plastic bags, cargo net & 4 bungees down the other.
-
Yeah, I make full use of the side bits - surprising what you can stuff in there, very deceptive space.
-
I didn't even know there was under seat storage of any value. I shall be investigating later.
I'm assuming it's easy to take the seat off to get at this space.

Side lock, turn it, seat lifts up at the front. :)
-
only have room for the tool kit and a small bottle of visor clean.
-
I know you can get two bottles of wine under there. ;)
-
Yamaha toolkit, Disc lock, sidestand puck for soft ground and one them angled thingymybob valve adaptors :)
-
It's like the cupboard to narnia under there!
In mine resides a yam tool kit, lock, rags, pack of sweets, aa card and the all important tie wraps!
Should get some rubber gloves to keep clean but I just like dirt!
-
Looks like I have some shopping to do!
I may start another post to find the best places for bits
-
I have some basic tools, puncture repair kit and a whopper lock

The condom is the thinking cap in this scenario,
-
its just useful stuff. I shud explain. the broken air compressor is from a garage. I broke the plastic casing off to make it smaller. now it fits fine so I done away with the blow up cartridges that you blow up with.

Oh yes, that's much more informative.......... :look
-
Moving swiftly on from the duct tape, Viagra and condoms...you bunch of perverted focers! ;)
Yam toolkit, a 12V socket for an air compressor that I haven't managed to fit under there, LED torch, spare headlight bulbs, spare fuses, small can WD40, microfibre cloth. Most of these are wrapped in plastic bags which are always useful. Got earplugs, disc lock, latex gloves and another cloth in my tank bag, rucksack and jacket depending on where I'm going.
I need to get a puncture kit as well.
Can you seriously fit two bottles of wine under there???
-
Tyre repair kit, some spanners and tools needed to: remove wheels, tank, change spark plugs, brake pads, oil, filters, coolant.
Also 4 old spark plugs, spare bulbs for all the ligts (one each). Small first aid kit. Tape, LED torch. Hi-Vis vest. Small container for instant tyre repair (like the link below).

And... a small teddy bear, like Mr. Bean, for luck. :o
-
a teddy bear. that made me think that's strange.

A teddy bear and NO condoms - figure that! :lol

Yamaha tool kit, sainsbury's carrier bag (god knows why that's in there) the free first aid kit from the Biker Down course and a bungee net.

Nowhere near the same amount of space!
-
Does kitcrazy have a gen1 or gen2? I was enquiring about the gen1 1000 compared to an 03 plate 600.
Cheers

A Fazer 6 has about 3x the under seat space of a Gen 1

Feel free to have a look at his profile yourself.......it's a gen 2. :lol
-
Yes I did think to look at his profile but it doesn't say what his bike, or not using tapatalk it doesn't anyway hence the question. I guess it must be a short coming of using tapatalk..
-
Traction control :lol
-
Yam toolkit, chain and lock, waterproof trousers, can of tyreweld, can of chainlube, high pressure tyre pump, And the scottoiler reservoir
-
Nowt, my saddle is a section of foam stuck onto a fibreglass tail unit....... Proper 'ard like!
-
All the above plus the Yamaha "D Lock" that fits onto the underside of the seat. Anybody else got one of these? Never use it though but the extra weight keeps the back end planted :b
-
So folk that have tyre pumps under their seats, what would you recommend?
I've got no way of reinflating my tyres if I have a puncture, so I'd like to know if there's a mini compressor like the Stop & Go or the RAC ones on ebay and Amazon (both of which have more bad reviews than good) that anyone would recommend or warn me to avoid.
-
I've got no way of reinflating my tyres if I have a puncture, so I'd like to know if there's a mini compressor
I have a kit that contains a valve and little compressed gas cartridges things.
As for the yam U-Lock I had the bike from 3 years old and it had already gone missing when I brought it, but I do carry another one that fits in two parts the U bit sits with its ends in the tail and the other bit sits down the side a bit over the undertray
-

I think I'll give them a go as they look like they take a lot less space than a pump, and I'm not planning on having punctures too regularly. :D
How many does it take to reinflate one tyre (or how many tyres can one inflate)? Obviously you get a set amount in a canister so it depends on the tyre size, but they're £15-£30 on ebay for a pack of 3, and I don't want to have to spend £30 on one puncture. I may as well get a pump at those prices.
-
I got mine from hein gerrick and I think it had 3 small cartridges in it, they are about the size of the neck of a bottle of bud, but not quite that big.
I have a question on these which is what shelf life do they have as mine has been under my seat for about 8 years
-
Are these the same as used on push bikes?
I don't know how far a canister would go on a motorbike tyre.

Difficult to figure out isn't it? Pushbike tyres are tiny compared to proper bike tyres, but run at 3 times the pressure.
-

I know! I'm still unsure if I'm looking at the same things as the person saying it's £15-£30 for three when when I'm looking at is £4.24 for 2
I may just ask at a bike shop how quickly push bikes get through them.
-
I keep three co2 cartridges in my kit which I got with one of them temporary repair kits that are basically a bit of thickish ropey stuff covered in glue that you push into the now much bigger hole you have to create using the tool provided.
My mate got a puncture so I was well prepared... Bloody thing came out.
As for how many cartridges, first one inflated enough to ride if you fancied a bit of trials riding on a Fazer.. Second enough for scooter speed only. Ended up calling RAC out and pretending it was my bike. They use a different plug which worked ace. They look like a rubber/foam 3D shaped thingy and a blue adhesive.. And yes you can buy them on ebay 8)
-
Is this the kit I should be getting?

I carry a small bicycle pump, along with CO2 cartridges. CO2 is used just for initial inflation - so that tyre sticks to the wheel rim. It has to be inflated to the proper pressure after one or two CO2 cartridges.
As far as kits go, this one has worked for me:
http://www.louis.de/_3049e59c1ebf4f9bf6793aa308e666f21e/index.php?topic=artnr_gr&artnr_gr=10032076 (http://www.louis.de/_3049e59c1ebf4f9bf6793aa308e666f21e/index.php?topic=artnr_gr&artnr_gr=10032076)
You clear the hole, rub some glue on the "worm", stick it in, then twist the tool 90 degrees and then pull out, cut the extra.

Thats very simular to what I have.
Thing is the last puncture I had was a 5 inch nail that went in the tread part and then out of the side, and then bent over and the tyre stayed up to get me home and then jurrrrrrrst enough to get to the tyre place the next day!!!
-
being a sensible chap. I like to do things the easy way. go in supermarket. buy a car tyre pump. about 5 to 8 quid. take home. cut off cigar lighter. fit a pair of crocodile clips. use bike battery for power. break off plastic casing. this makes it much smaller. if needed let it whirl. I leave mine under saddle with my crafty plugger. I think I forgot to put that on list. also something to pull nail out of tire. hope you get my drift matey
-
break off plastic casing.
So that's how I can fit it under my seat!
-
All the above plus the Yamaha "D Lock" that fits onto the underside of the seat. Anybody else got one of these? Never use it though but the extra weight keeps the back end planted :b
could you share a picture of this lock?

I havent got one, I dont know where they all went as noone seems to have one.Maybe they didint even come with one
If you look under your seat- that being the bit you sit on, you will see under and molded into the underside of the seat - u shape hooks, these are where your lock should clip into place along with the two holes in your tail rubber flap.
Under that strap where the shackle part of the lock is sposed to fit (part 2 ) is where i store my pouch of 3 little canasters for the puncture repair

Thanks
