Title: Ignition for FZS 1000 2002. Same as 600??

Last week someone tried hot wiring the bike and in the process sheared off the cables to the ignition. Long story short i need to replace the ignition.

First off, if anyone has one they'd like to sell then let me know, i would prefer to buy used than new!

In the process of tracking down the part i have come across exploded diagrams of the 1000 and 600 bikes and the parts look identical:

600 (part 26)

They are different prices and the part number itself is not shown but can anyone tell me if they are in fact the same unit?

Post by: solorider on 21 January 2014, 01:46:08 pm: The steering lock for the fazer1000 is unique to the thou I'm afraid, it maybe similar but there maybe wiring differences.

Post by: solorider on 22 January 2014, 01:08:28 am: 2003 ignition switch is different to the 2001 and 2002 models, the later bikes have one less wire in the switch, I don't know if the barrel itself is the same or not though, so long as your ignition switch is ok you may be able to swap the switch part over, you will find out when it turns up.

Shame that yamaha have just made a huge price increase on their spare parts, this one has jumped from £170 to £300!

Will keep trawling and see what i can find.
