As a little sideline, i used to make numberplates. Legal or show plates. Then i had a child and found i didnt have as much time to do it, so i let it slip.
But i still have all the equipment and the blank plates, and a little more time on my hands (not much), so i'm considering starting it up again.
I just need to guauge the level of interest, as i would need to lay down a reasonable amount of ££'s for software licensing. Fortunately i dont need to pay out on blanks as i have a box ready.
So, would anyone be interested in a lovely shiny plate? lets say around a tenner for a motorcycle plate as a ball park figure. Maybe I could do a 'FOC-U plate' with FOC-U.co.uk in the tag line and the yamaha logo ghosted in the background if thats what people want?
-
Def interested
-
I would be interested too, would be nice to be able to spot fellow foc ers.
-
Me too
-
Me too
-
Me too but it has to be the same size as the one i got already. Can u make em smaller?
-
Depends what size u got?
I have blanks for car, motorcycle legal size, 8x6, 7x5, 6x4, 9x3(single line style)
-
Me too please.
-
This is good feedback, I would need 15 to break even on software cost. I can do them without the plate software, but the right software literally saves hours! I'd also include the plastic nuts/bolts.
My 7x5 that I knocked up... Bit dirty from commuting.
-
Depending on cost, I could be interested in 3 different plates!! :lol :lol
-
I'll have one. As a point of interest can you do them with national flags, say Flag of St George with England underneath?
Mickey
-
I'd have 2 fella - assuming you could also do one with a Triumph logo ghosted.
-
I'd take one
-
The penalty for supplying non-standard plates (https://www.gov.uk/register-as-number-plate-supplier) looks quite harsh. :eek
-
They are! I'm a registered number plate supplier, so can do legal plates. Anything other than legal are for show purposes only - concourse, shop window, and most definitely NOT for the road
-
I'd be interested
I'd probably the the GB sticker on the side for European jaunts?
-
Count me in for 8x6 yamaha ghost
-
I need one ASAP please.
Cheers
-
me too need one with the euro GB thing on.
-
Sounds like it will be worth me putting down the dollar then... I'll wait until payday as i'm skint right now lol!
-
Yes please
-
Is England not legal???
-
Fizzy - simply not do-able. Maybe you could fashion some dzus fasteners for quick number plate swaps?
GB is legal (assuming its on a legal plate of course), don't think it is but I'd have to check if England would be legal as an alternative.
-
what sort of money are you looking at?
-
Probably a tenner. If anyone want a normal plain legal plate, I can do them now.
-
I'll take one too.
-
At that sort of money why not - put me down
-
Just going to give you an update as to where i am with this (and show that i havent forgotton)...
I've been fighting to get the software to work on my Windows7 machine (i have it on an old XP machine, but that machine is old and very slow), eventually, i had to get the software working on win7 using an XP virtual machine! So i called up to license the software, mentioned in passing that it was a struggle on win7, and they told me there was a newer version that was win7 compatible... So i'd much rather use that than rely on a VM.
CD should be arriving today or tomorrow, once installed (my machine doesnt have a cd drive so i'll have to copy it to usb then install), i can call them up to get the license, and we're good to go. I've paid the £££'s for the license.
Full size plates, had a stock check and i need to order some of those. I'll get them with the GB pre-printed on the plate if i can as they seem to finish better.
:)
-
I would be up for a road legal plate but with FOC-U or similar somewhere on the plate
-

Can you post here mate what you can do then?
some samples?
with the standard font can you do 3D text, carbon style text?
can you do the honey comb?
how would the ghosted yam badge look?
could you design it on the software then send as an image first?
thanks
Hey fizzy... yes to all that. Page 1 you can see my plate with the ghosted Yamaha. Also 'inline' font, which looks quite nice - its a vehicle font (and legal for car) with a line in the centre of the font.
-
See it now?

How do I order and pay mate?

Would you be able to do something like this mate?
But instead of the transformers logo, would you be able to do the Kawasaki logo, the big "K"?
-
Yeah should be able to do something like that, I'll need some design time.
Putting in an order for blank plates hopefully today, but just dealing with a rear puncture :-/
-
pm sent with request for a car plate...
-
Like that. Bear in mind that the euro stars, GB and K would be yellow. (low quality jpeg, actual print would be much sharper)
-
pm sent for some plates
-
Are the plates with the Yamaha sign in the background legal, are the cops going to bother me with it lake that? Also, do I have to have the Euro stars, happy to have GB, but can I have cross of St George or even nothing at all......blooming hate Europe LOL
-

That's lovely mate, how much would that be?
Need to find out my actual reg plate too, that's my old one as it's the only one I ever remembered :lol
-
Got mine too.
Should have been twice the price so its a great deal.
Thanks Darren
-
Mine has just arrived, for £10 I dont know how hes making money on it.
I'm really happy with it, thanks mate
No overheads and I'm not greedy. I just need to make back the cost of the software and the actual plates themselves and the p+p. If I can stick a small bit of change into my pocket afterwards then that's great :)
-
I can also make plaques and so on, here's one I knocked up for my kid's bedroom door
-

Points of the tuning forks should reach into the outer circle. Just saying!
-
I updated the ghost image, all yam ghosts sent out have the newer
-

-

Should be able to, no idea what the format is on Irish though!
-
I'm not sure if you said before but can you have a St George cross flag in place of the EU flag?
Mickey
-
You have to display GB ,but you can have the cross as well
-
https://www.gov.uk/displaying-number-plates/flags-symbols-and-identifiers (https://www.gov.uk/displaying-number-plates/flags-symbols-and-identifiers)
You can have the flag, but if you're planning on travelling in Europe, then GB and the EU logo need to be there.
It should be in this order:
EU logo
Flag
GB
Quite frankly nobody will give a monkeys if the flag and the GB are other way around
-
My plates arrived today - (after ordering on Saturday night).
Excellent quality & service.
Well pleased.
Many Thanks. :thumbup
-
As above. Thanks! :)
The yellow was a slightly darker hue than I was expecting, but that's not a complaint. Very happy, can't wait to fit it to the bike when she gets out! :D
And for those who moan I never upload pics.... :lol :lol :lol :lol
Edited just for safety's sake - but the plate looks great (and hasn't got two boxes on it!!)

Can you make single line front plates for a car?
-
yes. Be aware that postage is a killer on these @ £6 so i'd be looking at £15 for a single, or £20 for a pair.
-
Fair enough not just yet just trying to get an idea, my 330 number plate recess is disgusting so wanting removed lol
-
have fitted a tail tidy but it is so flush it obscured the top of my old plate
so ordered a plate but asked for the numbers and letters to be lowered slightly
arrived this morning and its spot on, very nice :)
Thanks
-
Could you do a double sided one for me please?
Legal on one side and on the other side, black background with silver/grey lettering.
Thanks
-
I'd have one, I kinda skipped the last 2 pages so I take it you can do the Yamahahaha logo as a ghost image with a border and other bits? How much including postage??
cheers :D
-
Can you do an aluminium plate with the EU/GB decal plus the foc-u.co.uk at the bottom?? if so can you give me a price delivered? Ta very muchio, Charlie :smokin
-
bang me down for one fella send us a msg with what you can do on it ta :lol
-
Guys, PM me. I dont get to hang around the forums, but i receive email notification of PM's.
Aluminium plates - car only. As mentioned a few posts up, car plates kill me on postage!
Bike plates - single sided only. They're a tenner each including postage, or you can pick them up from me in person (London SW1Y), still a tenner though! No additional costs.
-
I'm up for two mate, smallest legal size you can do, I'll pm the numbers. :-)
