Hi all!
Right time for a noo edition of routeplanner! :lol
This has been a pretty good year for the LoFos: the rideouts have become a regular thing now, and we've got a pretty good regular attendance. We've not been without comic moments (remember Squirrel Head?), and a few dramas too (Arfa and I exploring friction coefficients on consecutive rides... :o ). However, another month, another ride!!
More importantly, this one will mark 1 year of the monthly LoFo rides, and 1 year of taking the piss out of Exup for whatever reason we can think of! :lol :lol :lol So let's make it a good un!
My proposal is to do what we did on the first ever LoFos: The first group meet at the Ace Cafe, meet the other riders at Blackheath, then down to Saarfend for pint and chat. Let's see if we can do better than 5 riders at Southend (and see if we can get Bozboz to salute properly this time... :b )!!
I will be planning to do a Dead_Eye, and meet you chaps at Blackheath in my cage. The rest of you have no excuse though!! :lol :lol
Whilst admittedly the rideouts are traditionally held on the first Sunday (the 2nd), there's been a request to hold it on the 9th. Up to you guys on that 'un!
Any other ideas?
Merrrrrrv
-
I'll definitely make it if it's on the 9th and it's not raining :D I have a bike that's running right now so no excuse.
Got my son on the 2nd so can't make that weekend.
-
Sounds like a plan. I'll pencil it now and might actually make it!
Out East too, which is good for me. Although I'll have to head West into town to meet you, then double back on myself. No biggie.
-
The 9th is ok if it means more people can make it. Nice post Christo.
-
I'll do my best to make it - weather is a big factor due the particularly large distance (going to be racking up 350+ miles for that one)
-
9th would be great - first Sunday of each month doesn't usually work for me hence only making one meet last year
-
May be able to do it on the condition that we can leave Christo locked in his cage at Blackheath :lol
-
9th is good for me depending on the weather :thumbup
-
Ok... The 9th it is. Lookin frwd to it. Hope the wevver is ok.
-
May be able to do it on the condition that we can leave Christo locked in his cage at Blackheath :lol
Remind me to throw bananas out of the window at you!! :lol :lol
-
Should be ok for this one....all being well I'll be on "the stuttering one"......have your picture taken with this piece of foc-u history......only £5 ....all monies raised goes straight in my pocket :lol :lolo
-
9th sounds like a strong poss for me. certainly 2nd would be no no
-
Sounds good to me i should even be awake.
-
Got my daughter on the 9th.
Great thinking to change first Sunday tradition for the 1 year anniversary!

Just going for max attendance, Stiggy. If more people can make the 2nd, We'll do that! :)

Really... didn't "not fully concentrating on the road" get you in to trouble once before already? (I refer to the "verge on a straight road" incident)
Besides, what makes you think you'll even keep up? It's not the speed, its the traffic. I certainly couldn't when I was there last year and I'm pretty certain you won't be driving anything more powerful :P

So far its looking more promising for the 9th...

:D9th good for me too other commitment first Sun each month, can meet either Ace or Blackheath latter easier as nearer
-
Totally weather dependant for me. But it's on the cards.

Totally weather dependant for me. But it's on the cards.
Same here.... and I'll have to shut my eyes and pretend I'm on some nice twisties koz those roads to Sarfend are sooooo mind numbing. :z
-
thats true. the ashfrod A20 rd down to folkstone would be alot more fun :b
-
those roads to Sarfend are sooooo mind numbing
That's why us locals do the Burnham bends and then the Dengie loop. Lots of twistys there if you have time. Just to the north of Sarfend.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3CGe9rNZ0s (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3CGe9rNZ0s#ws)
Plus you've taken the wrong route. Some quite good roads away from the A13 & A127 if you know them ;)
-
And there's one problem with bike film footage - it really gives no clue as to how tight some of those bends are.
-
They're all 90 degrees, about 10 in a row over 2 miles, Great as long as not snarled with traffic. Followed by some long rises and dips through Althorne.
The Dengie stretch is more interesting - Burnham, Southminster, Tillingham, Bradwell, Steeple, Mayland, Stow Maries. Much less traffic too (the Dengie peninsula is on the edge of the planet and leads to nowhere !) A route used by Essex Police for Bikesafe.
-
I've ridden those bends once and my memory (admittedly somewhat flawed these days :rolleyes) suggests to me the Burnham Bends are very severe and hence are a popular destination, or route to the café at Burnham, and as such, have claimed many bikes stuffed in the hedges etc!
-
gotta love bends

I take it this is happening on the 9th for sure now, right?
-
Not able to do Feb or March Lofo runs as I'm buggering off to St Davids, Pembrokeshire and St Just, Cornwall with some mates in beginning of March. So need to score some house points before I go.

What are the intended meeting times aprox.

I believe it's 9am at the Ace, leave Blackheath tea hut at 10:30am / 11am. Exupnut, can you please confirm?

Any meeting points outside the m25?

Any meeting points outside the m25?
Well, there's Southend. Apart from that, I'm afraid not. Feel free to plan another route to meet us there though, the more the merrier! :)
-
I'll have just done a nightshift, the swines put me on for just the one. But if I manage some shut eye I'm hoping to still make it.
Perhaps a timed rendezvous on the approach to dartford tunnel Paul. Thinking perhaps wait on princes roundabout till group comes by.
-
Not a chance in hell I'll make it for the Ace meeting point. Far too early for me as I don't plan on freezing my ass off on the M4 for 100+ miles at 7am (time I'd have to leave)
Should be able to make Blackheath for 10.30 / 11.00... providing I don't get lost ;)
-
Can do the Tea Hut, Blackheath, about 3/4 hour from me

We'll be in a pub... any pub, then B&B, then ride to Cornwall. What more could I ask for?
-
I'll be at the ace for nine if anyone wants to ride to blackheath from there :)

Just so everyone aware this is happening on sun 9th jan.

But the rideout wil be over at 9:31 on Monday morning! Although I guess there are silver bikes on the rideout... :lol :lol
-
Hey Christo, make the most of the opportunity while you've got it - it might be the only riding you'll be doing for some time :lol
-
Let it be known I am turning down my first sex in over a year to come. Be there!!
Yup, you keep telling yourself that, you turned it down ;)
-
"I can't meet next weekend, I'm taking part in an annual reunion" IS me saying no. :eek
Unlike what people said to the American artist:

Going to turn up to this one, got to really as its literally right past my door. is it planned to go Burnham or Sarf End (or both).
I can do a route from the Blackwall tunnel that apart from 9 miles on the A13 to Ferry Lane Rainham, is literally all lanes or minor roads all the way to Burnham or S-o-S. .
And Exup I'll do the route not like last July, but then given the choice of an all expenses paid 2 week (working) trip to Pattaya or a wet Sunday morning with a load of LoFos what would you have choosen.
-
Sarf end red ceri and of course u can lead the ride.
-
Got a route in my mind of about 70/80 miles that includes a loop to the Burnham bends.
I'll try and ride it Saturday to make sure there are no nasty surprises. Essex CC not to hot on repairing potholes
-
Cool... But do remember its Sun 9th

Lol but rem christo... Its on the 9th

Ceri - I'm local and can advise if you've got any doubts. PM me
-
I'm local as well, live in Wickford but originally from Grays so the lanes are pretty well known to me, in the long and distant past I've crashed in most of them :lol
-
:thumbup I'm Rayleigh. So have I :lol
-
CLAWS AWAY please ladies :rolleyes
we want a pleasant ride. On the 9th, that is not the 2nd the 9th

Agree, did the Burnham Bends last year on way to Fish & Chip shop, went through Dartford Tunnel then mostly bends and rural roads once off M25. Blackwall Tunnel makes sense if meeting at Blackheath, happy to go with the flow :lol
-
Blackheath pointless for those starting at ace if going back through blackwall. Could fill woolwich ferry though :)
-
Did a recce ride of the route I had planned, couple of closed roads but otherwise suprisingly clean roads and not too many potholes. Will tweak to suit. Did about 80miles from Ferry Lane Rainham to SoS, via Burnham. Took about 2 hours but I was not rushing too much, is that enough miles for everyone remembering personal milage getting to either the Ace or Blackheath and return journey?
-
How about Ace Group and Blackheath Group travel separately to Thurrock services and meet there in comfort with fuel hot drinks and "other" facilities before heading off for Burnham Bends, would just need a time to work to????

Could work... Anyone else for meeting there at 11? I'd certainly favor it (emissions zone, grr!)

Sounds good to me. Long range weather forecast is a bit touch and go. about 10C, London might get rain, Southend is forecast dry though.
I'm in Dagenham, don't mind meeting at Blackheath or Thurrock. Guess a lot depends on route back over the river from Blackheath:- Blackwall tunnel, Woolwich ferry or Dartford tunnel. Never done ferry before - could be a laugh!
TBH the ride from A13 through Blackwall tunnel to Tea hut is only 4.5 miles / 9 minutes according to Google. Not too big a detour for you Ace lot. :)
-
What about this route from Thurrock Services. 80miles in total to SoS. Just need to be careful of people with 6 fingers and webbed feet near Bradwell

LoFo Route |
-
How's this for a schedule then?
Group 1 leaves the Ace Cafe at 9:00am
Group 2 leaves Blackheat at 9:30am
(Both arriving nearish 10am)
Set off at 10:30ish / 11 on Red Ceri's route. :)
Where's the rendez-vous and ETA in Southend? As I'll be in the cage, I'll go straight there.
-
Route looks good to me. I know all those roads. There's a better link road between Battlesbridge and Hullbridge down Watery Lane - providing it's not too watery .....
-
How about Ace Group and Blackheath Group travel separately to Thurrock services and meet there in comfort with fuel hot drinks and "other" facilities before heading off for Burnham Bends, would just need a time to work to????
so basically main meeting point is Thurrock services :)

Looks like it! :)
-
mtread, Watery Lane along with South Hanningfield Road were both closed yesterday hence the detours, suspect with the rain due this week they'll stay that way.
-
Not surprised!
-
Weather is beginning to look pretty atrocious for Sunday (more so in the South West where I am) so I may have to give this a miss :(

Good point. Bad weather plan, huddle at the Ace with tea?
-
Sounds good. I'll drag me arse round there for 12 if it pisses down.
-
Hmmm, should be dry, but will be a spot windy. Not liking the sound of that 27mph winds in Southend....
Southend: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2637433 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2637433)
London: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2643743 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2643743)
-
Shouldn't be a problem. I always travel at more than 27mph
-
its not looking good for sunday guys.is it still on?
-

If the rideout gets scrubbed, plan B is the Ace cafe with tea.
-
I can make it to the Ace tomorrow at 12 - won't be able to do the ride unless I can meet you guys somewhere later on as I have important intl call @ 9am (bloody time zones for you).
TBH, as I look at it pissing down through the window, tea @ Ace seems more appealing right now...
-
Weather forecast here in Essex says fine all day tomorrow with no rain at all. What time are we meeting at Thurrock services?

if we leave Thurrock services at 11 with a stop approx half way for fags or tea (at Burnham?) should be in SoS at 2ish.

Sounds good

Christofighter 8) ...i love it!, we can be like the Blues brothers....obviously ill be the fat one!
Christo on a serious note....is the plan to go with the mega plans for an uber fighter or do you just want a basic fazer on the road???
What im thinking is if you just want a running fazer & you get a project or all the components then maybe jus maybe amongst all us foccers there could be all the bits you need just lying around in sheds and garages that you could be donated.
For example i might be prepared to donate you a standard end can & 2 front calipers (calipers that used to be yours).......but if this makes sense, not bein funny but i wouldnt donate stuff if you then went out & bought like a fancy r1 swing arm or whatever for silly money.
Anyway just a thought, all the parts are probably out there just sitting around gathering dust.shame really coz you already had most of them but hey you didnt know America would go tits up did ypu.
-

Just done my commute into london. Nice amount of wind to spice the ride up:).
Planning to kip at work after shift to guarantee I'll wake up for the meet. If the ride is still on I plan to meet blackheath, if ride not on I'll see y'all ace side :)

See ya there then. Can't see us having snow overnight :D
-
Cool. If we did av snow you'd look like u were ridin foc all lol
-
I'm going to wing it and see what the weather is like tomorrow morning. I'll be aiming for the Ace, but may end up trying to get to Thurrock in time... its a long ass ride and I don't do early mornings :P

Long story for another thread, Noggy, but in short: I've been banned from insuring another bike by my parents until after uni - 2 years from now! Anyway, insurance is silly money since I claimed, and since I'm on 33hp till June. About £800 p/a for a :faz !
So I plan to do up a great Fazer, to my ideal spec and keep a sneaky eye on the insurance quotes... ;)
-
Cool. If we did av snow you'd look like u were ridin foc all lol
I was already under the impression my arse covered the bike anyway.........drum on a pea n all that :rollin
-
Will try and meet at blackheath or thurrock, depends what time I get up. I'm located half between the two, so either works.
However my daughter has been I'll, puking everywhere, hopefully on mend, but if she's really bad tomorrow, will have to stay home and help wife.

Will be @ Thurrock 10.30 :rolleyes whatever the weather

Awesome day. I'm home already with my feet up. Safe ride home for you lot with distance
-
Home aswell 35 min from sarfend.. Followin grandma and red ceri filterin traffic @ courier speeds. :-)) NICE. Grandma was sublime on that fz8 and i noticed she didn't eat today. I think she Survives on 4 stroke lol.
What a fantastic day. Red ceri planned a great route with some fantastic twisties and no rain. Perfect.
Top marks to deadeye for drivin down from Bristol FFS. Awesome. And hats off to christo for bein a good sport about the pisstaking. That was the best lofo I've been on. Missed kosmic kartman and nick crisp but they would only have been out ridden lol so no drama there.
Red98 even managed to meet captain Birdseye at the ace and bring him along but we didn't get any fish fingers hehe and he got some expert tuition on how to ride his bike and the proper colour for his next pair of bike boots.....

Then cheers to the fab 4 who allowed me to catch up. You know who you are ;)
-
Had a great day enjoyed it all, heres to the next one
-
What a great day and good to put names to faces.thanks to red ciri for a great route and hats off to those who put in the big miles.
look forward to the next one :thumbup
-
Glad you all had a good day and the rain Gods stayed away despite my best efforts, ripping the Southend page out the atlas and submerging it in a bucket of water
:lol
I really missed this one. Wish I was there but shit needs to be done at home so sometimes you can't go out to play. As a heads up... I don't think I'll be able to make many LoFo rides this year. But I will be there in spirit and as Christo's and Exups Guardian Angel.
Play safe and ride safe.
-
Back in sunny bracknell all in one piece. Agood day on good roads in great company. Cheers lady and gents
-
Thoroughly enjoyed that Foccer's, especially when Red Ceri upped the pace, loved watching Captain Birdseye on his back wheel but most of all showing Exup that yellow is definitely FASTER than blue. :b Looking forward to the next one and don't worry Red, your secrets safe with me. :lol
-
Me back home ....thanks for planning and leading CERI.........great pictures of the kids EXUP........a couple more for your collection :lol........wonder how deadeyes getting on.....11/10 for effort ;)

Sorry mate!!!!............
I didn't see you in all that Camo ...........Waaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! :b :b :b
Walked into that one.......like a single amputee Spetzna!!!! :2guns
Red spoiled it a bit though :\
-
Back alive (surprisingly, I didn't die of boredom on the M11 - came close though! :lol :lol )
Nice seeing the old gang, and putting names to faces.
Ride safe! :D
-
Last but not least, I'm finally home. Got back at about 8.40 after taking some slower roads as the wind chill above 40mph got pretty damn cold! Currently thawing myself out but it was definitely worth it and I'm glad I pushed through the rain and wind on the way up
Thanks to Red Ceri for the route and as always, good to see you all again.
I ended up totalling 445 miles for the day and I will probably ache a fair bit tomorrow. Great run, but if fuel doesn't get cheaper these rideouts are going to start costing :P
-
Top man deadeye. Have bike....will ride :-)

Amazing guy, great to meet you, that's the sort of mileage I clock up in a day travelling up to Scotland! The temperature certainly dropped about 5ish, though grateful for the extra daylight. Dogs were fine, no puddles, by the time I'd walked and fed them, then me, time for my bed!
Enjoyed a fabulous day with you all, top bunch of guys, helps lifts the Winter blues, soon be Spring, yipee! :)

Had a great day enjoyed it all, heres to the next one
All thanks to you, fabulous route, fun ride and incredible company, what's more the sun came out and DRY roads, a real novelty, wet and cold south of the Dartford crossing as I discovered on my way home, still on cloud nine.
Back down to Earth today, catching up on domestics!! lol :\
