A mate got this out of a skip, to be more accurate the owner of the skip company got it out and gave him the bike as he knew he's into bikes.
The question is will he have any trouble getting a log book for it, I've told him not to do any thing to it till he can find out it's status?
-
That a Bandit?
First port of call, ensure it's not a duffer. Then start the paper trail. I'm about to do this for a friend's Mazda MX-5. Anyone want one, BTW? :b
-
Looks like it started life as a GSXR but someones already had a go at it.
-
Its a GSXR 750 Slingshot.
Just apply to the DVLA for a new log book.
Do nothing to it until you have a V5 in the new owners name.

Gotta love the craftmanship thats gone into that exhaust hanger!! :rolleyes
-
its only junk mate. i'll give you a fiver for it, take it off your hands. :evil

and it doesn't even work?
There's most of the plastics with it and loads of bits but in the same state, I said sell it for spares as to even get the motor running would be a lot of work and what would it be worth at the end, not much over a grand? and as he owns a new ducati and fireblade don't think he would want to keep it.
-
Pull it apart and put the bits on ebay, theres a grand in that pile of junk :rollin
Frame with a V5 is worth at least £100
Wheels £100
Discs (if they are both there) £50
Forks £75
Engine as spares £50-£100
Yokes £50
Tank £50
Exhaust £100
Swingarm £50
Rear sets £30
Etc etc etc...

First thing I'd do is make sure its not got history ie TWOC

You're an optimist, aren't you? :P
-
A realist :)
Take a look on ebay, Im not far off the mark...
-
Stick it in the back of the shed for 20 years - someone'll want the bits to help with a restoration project by then.
-
matsplat is right it is a slingshot and they are fetching silly money at the minute!

It looks like it has no plates so getting a replacement V5 isn't going to be as easy as it could be. Best bet would be to do an HPI check on the VIN number. That will tell if it is nicked and should also confirm the registration number.

it has a tax disc on it 2011 so he has the reg number, so it must be on sorn or scrapped, I told him to go to tax on line and do a check.

this is a bike my mate has just finished for someone, it wasn't as bad as the other bike but was in a state, he's a bit of a perfectionist.
-
Ive got one in my living room :lol
-
First thing I would do is speak to the police. I was told a story by a friend years ago, he was a regular at a pub and in the car park was a motorbike it had been there for some time and the landlord fed up with an abandoned bike took ownership of it so to speak and then gave it to my friend, the original owner came out of the woodwork and reported it stolen. My friend was prosecuted and gained a criminal record.
So i m thinking if it is reported to the police with the way you came to own it you have covered your back.

Way I've always understood it is after informing police you have to show every effort to find owner. ads in shop windows local papers etc and after 3 months if not come forward the bike is yours

I fully acknowledge all the workmanship, but I'm a massive Gixxer fan and seeing them turned into street fighters is sacrilege :evil they're pure thoroughbreds and should stay that way, that’s why Suzuki made the Bandit!
-
Old Gixxers are worth a mint at the moment, I got more than enough for my old single sided slabby and the engine in that was fucked (proper fucked)... Slingshots are starting to climb in value, I predict that the rise in prices is gonna skip the S-RADs and the next valuable one will be the Y/K1 models

Well said that man. I'm not a street fighter fan when bodied from a crashed super bike. Although I like Tuono's, speed and street triples. Go figure.
