Is the gear shift return spring in the same place as gen1 on gen 2

I don't know bout the gen 2, but is this the spring you mean on the gen 1? http://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk/genuineparts/9023/19/yamaha%20fzs1000%20fazer/shift%20shaft?uid=0 (http://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk/genuineparts/9023/19/yamaha%20fzs1000%20fazer/shift%20shaft?uid=0)

I usually suffer from floppy shifting if the bolt (14) holding the shift arm(10) to the shift shaft (7) is even slightly loose. Might be worth checking first before you do a strip down.

Looks like it might be at the other end

Part No 1, I have always known them as a detent spring, normally easy to change.

Of course the other cause of floppy shifting can be too many pints of Guinness.  :o
