Title: Gen 1 Nitron Rear Shock!!
Post by: Capt on 25 October 2013, 07:47:52 pm
With Santa nearly on us, choices, choices, choices…………A new IPad 5, save for a holiday, or this?
Anyone got any feedback or is Ohlins/Maxton still the way to go?

Had one
very nice indeed
Just as good as Ohlins going by my limited abilities

...but Luke's R6 shock is the way to go if money is in any way tight.

Got the exact same shock, probably the best mod I've made to my bike as it made a big difference in handling and confidence, I went from having 5mm chicken strips on the rear to none at all within a few days of fitting it. Having said that I'd probably have gone for the R6 shock mod if it had been available at the time.

+1 on the Nitron, fitted the Nitron Sport and Racetec front fork springs and the 5FUdifference is extremely noticeable. The handling is just simply superb....go for it you won't regret it.

There was an article in Bike magazine a few years ago when they had a Nitron shock that was length adjustable - does anyone know what the best length is? The don't make them adjustable any longer but can make them to a longer fixed length if asked for. I seem to remember it was about 25mm longer than stock??

25mm seems excessive!

I fitted a BMW S1000RR shock to my gen 1 which is 4mm longer than the std (this is the 2013 bmw shock - earlier ones are longer).  that has jacked it up about 20-25mm (std dog bones) so a 25mm longer shock would be nearly 4 inces higher!  You could fit different dogs but that big a difference will start to affect the rising rate etc unless you start changing more

Hello bash my fellow aprilia V4 owner. It's got to be said that this site is way better than the Aprilia one ;) .... Getting back to the subject. I have an R6 shock mod and about to do the r1 front end mod, but i have only heard great things about nitron shocks. Apparently technician guys that used to work at Ohlins now work for Nitron :)
