Title: 1999r1 rear brake caliper
Post by: 70s kid on 07 October 2013, 12:59:16 am
Hi all. Quick question fore yers, Has any one fitted a 99 r1 rear calliper to their fzs600. Are there any mods needed as it looks the same as a fazer 1000 rear one. All answers will be gratefully appreciated. 70s kid (Paul)

Hi,

Think the R1 has different spaces between the mounting bolts so it doesn't fit... using the search function might throw up the threads that mention it.

To fit the R1 caliper would require a different caliper mounting plate which could in turn throw out the space for the rear wheel or not fit the rear axle spindle.

If you think you can make it work then go for it, the fazer thou calipers are harder to find than an Essex virgin...

The trx 850 rear caliper and mounting bracket fit without any mods too.

As far as I know the TRX is the same as the R1and late model XJR and don't fit the 600. The FZS1000 caliper fits but you need the 600 hanger and you have to file about 1mm of material away from the arch between the to mounting holes on the hanger to get it to fit..... Also if you get the torque arm which is ali you can use that and junk the crappy steel torque arm that is standard fitment for the 600

TRX850 hanger with a YZF750 rear caliper on mine. It bolts straight on although you need a longer brake pipe if the standard one is still fitted. Mine had a braided hose of unknown origin fitted when I bought it.

Thanks for that Darrsi, what I should have said is that they are hard to find and if you do they are usually very expensive...
