Title: cold starting
Post by: dickturpin on 23 September 2013, 10:07:27 pm
The last two times I have started the bike from cold it's taken many attempts to catch. (I don't use choke)
I'm not sure if this is a problem or not yet and will see how the next few go. bike has a new battery with loads of umph so not that.
What would you set about checking?
Its not ivanised (that I know of).
When it does fire its very lumpy until I can gradually increase revs. When its warm it runs fine so I don't think its a carb balance problem. It also starts straight away when warm.
This isn't a major issue yet but looking for suggestions to investigate.
I realise all stock fazers can be a little tricky to start but the last couple have seemed worse.

Weak spark,why not use choke?

Maybe petrol wet plugs, or bad plugs

Never really needed choke....maybe half choke in winter that's all.

Use the choke that's what it's for, Ivanising reduces the need of the choke when cold but it will still need it.
