Rode a lot of these roads a few years ago, a couple that really stood out for me were the B1363 which took me from the outskirts of York up to near Helmsley, where I picked up the B1257 to Stokesley. Both of these roads were a good mix of tight twisties, fast flowing bends and the odd straight bit to get your breath back. Like someone has already said, the B1257 is very popular with local bikers, some of them obviously know the road really well and are very quick along there, I just kept an eye out for them and kept out of their way. Didn't see any cameras along there but I believe they are quite common now.
From Stokesley I headed up towards Guisborough and picked up the A171 to Whitby, Scarborough, then the A165 to Bridlington, Hull, over the Humber Bridge and Grimsby and a nice coastal route to Sutton on Sea to meet up with family and friends.
Some great roads and a really enjoyable day out on my old Fazer  :)

Ordered some of these last week, they arrived half an hour ago, felt sorry for the driver as his shift turned into a longer one than planned when his van picked up a puncture and he had to wait 2 hours to have it repaired.
Trousers are excellent quality, and a very good fit, I'm sure they'll be very comfy when I wear them on the bike  :)

So it's goodbye to my 6 year old Spadas, which only cost me about £100 so I can't really complain  :)

371 miles: from Carterton, Oxfordshire, to Chesterfield, loop (with nakedadder & andybesy - cheers fellas!  :thumbup ) including Snake Pass, Cat & Fiddle (done it at last!), round by various very enjoyable roads to Matlock Bath, and home again. And discovered both up and back that A361 between Banbury & Daventry is a cracking little twisty road - pity the sun was in my eyes both god-damned directions!

Yes, when you're tired it's a difficult choice I suppose between the monotony of a motorway or the more demanding A roads, glad that you made it back safely though  ;)

I'll be on to the designers at Triumph tomorrow, need holder for glasses in a more convenient place where -
A - I can see them without my glasses on
B - I don't have to be double jointed to retrieve them
C - They won't melt whilst I'm retrieving them

I'll be having Volvo related nightmares later I reckon  :lol

Glad you enjoyed it Nick  :)

Gonna fit Blue Volvo 4x4 seeking missiles to my bike, bloody annoying thing  :lol

You made good time getting home, take it you stuck mainly to motorway?

Can you spot my glasses anywhere on that pic at the Cat & Fiddle?  :lol

'Tis a sad day Chris that you've finally had to make this decision  :'( , I really feel for you, but ultimately you have to do what feels right for you.

For anyone out there looking for a good Fazer 600, don't hesitate to have a look at this one, it's as near 'mint' as you could wish for, I've known Chris for several years and been out with him on the bikes a few times, and I'll vouch for its mileage and condition, it really will be a good buy for someone  :)

Suggest continuing north on M1 to J29, take the A617 towards Chesterfield and after 100 yards or so on the A617 we could meet in a lay-by there. It's only about 5 miles from there into Chesterfield where we can fuel up - us and the bikes if necessary

Right, I'm on the case  :lol

I had a route in mind which starts near Chesterfield, which takes in the Snake Pass, The Cat & Fiddle and some brilliant roads in between. Just planned it on Google maps and it's 103 miles, just short of 3 hours without stops and ends in Matlock Bath. Would this be too far for you on top of what you need to do to get up here in the first place?

Not sure, I've heard some strange accents around there though, so you could be right  ;)
