Rossi (spoiler)
« on: 25 October 2015, 11:00:50 am »
Can't believe Rossi got away with taking Marc out today, but I do wonder if he decides to retire after he's had some time to think about his actions, I know it was at a low speed corner and the risk of injury small but he'd have to be asking himself what is he prepared to do to beat another rider and if its time to hang up the leathers

Very disapointed :\

I kind of understand Rossi, Last week Marc overtook him then rode at such a pace that Rossi couldn't close the gap and again the fight between them is always going to let Lorenzo disappear up the road but it was early in the race and maybe he should have sat behind Marc and waited a lap or two to see his pace in relation to Lorenzo

I'd love to see him take one last title but not at any cost

Just watched it, wtf was he thinking.  His biggest rival was lorenzo, but needed to teach the whippersnapper a lesson.
21 years of reputation down the toilet in 1 corner.
Now in valencia my money will be on marquez slowing down and fucking up rossi's title chance!

Hasn't Marquez got form for doing similiar things in the past?
Rossi lost his rag but Marquez was just as much at fault, they both looked at each other and neither was going to back off.

Those overtakes were last lap passes, on the edge,  not for early laps in a title contention race,,,of and look ahead there goes Lorenzo disappearing into the distance,

you certainly do no want a rider doing passes on you when you need to keep pace with the leaders,,,,run the little c**t off the road, he took the race from Rossi.

Simply put Spanish Mafia at work, they need a Spaniard to win at Valencia, Rossi basically has handed the title to Lorenzo. Regardless he is the all time greatest Moto GP rider ever.

Hear, hear, certainly the GOAT, but unfortunately an error of judgement on this occasion.
However, Marquez was not without blame in the clash, he clearly turned into Vale.

It's such a shame that one of the best seasons for many years should be decided like this.

I watched it last night and couldn't believe it, Rossi got out Rossied by Marquez.  Certainly wasn't Rossi at his best but he was pushed and pushed and just snapped.

Having read Rossi's autobiography recently and all the games with Biagi he's no saint but Marquez has been acting like a bit of a spoilt child for the last couple of races, he's clearly been holding Rossi up, in the last race Rossi signaled to him to stop pissing about and let's go catch Lorenzo.  Sour grapes from Marquez, Rossi fueled the fire by having a pop at him last week about him having Rossi posters on his bedroom wall and Marquez responded on track with, like as been said further up this post, last lap lunges right from the get go.

I think Rossi had just had enough, I'm sure he didn't want him to crash but he wanted to significantly slow him down and get him out of his face so he could catch lorenzo.

Marquez has history of this sort of thing too though, and he was definitely goading Rossi, that's what they said in the hearing after, it was 6 of one and half dozen of the other, just that Rossi finished it.

I hope Rossi races and then gives Marquez a proper kick off his bike before instantly retiring  :b   It didn't do Thiery Henry or Zidanne any harm finishing off a career in style ha ha ha

Only joking, I want Rossi back next year to win it good and proper!

Money doesn't buy happiness, but it buys beer, and that helps!

Just got round to watching the highlights last night, and the footage from the helicopter seems to back up Rossi's side of the story i.e. Marquez went into him and knocked his foot off the peg on his way down.
But, from what I gather, that's not what Rossi's being penalised for. It's running Marquez wide that has got him the penalty points, so it seems the right call.

too fucked up to care any more.

Has Rossi not been slagging Marquez off and practically called him a liar?  Marc ain't gonna do him no favours.

Quote
Last week Marc overtook him then rode at such a pace that Rossi couldn't close the gap

That's not the race I saw.  And if that's the case Iannone must be part of this conspiracy.

The bottom line is Rossi is quick and still a fine racer but he doesn't quite have the pace.  The wise old head on his shoulders has worked well for him this year, he's played things smart, but he's been losing it the last few weeks.

And it is a race folks, and that was racing.

Rossi should have been disqualified from that race.

Considering how quickly Marc bridged the gap to Lorenzo on the last lap I could understand Rossi's questioning of Marcs ultimate pace,he had afterall been the quickest during qualifying. I don't believe for one moment that he was or is trying to decide the outcome of the championship but maybe he should leave Rossi and Lorenzo to fight it out among themselves.

As for Iannone, would he have been quick enough to stay with the leading pack had they all been riding at the limit

Just watched it. Fantastic tussle up to then and great racing, but I don't think I've ever seen a more calculated move.
Seems like Rossi can give it, but he can't take it. Shame as I have (had) nothing but admiration for him.

Then there is Rossi's brief post race interview - complete mince.

I can understand why he was pissed off and lost the plot, but he kinda set himself up, and perhaps he would have been best staying quiet after the race, maybe giving a more considered and honest interview later.

I'd guess race direction will probably have a wee chat with Marc as well.  The two of em need to behave again.

But hey, great racing and great entertainment.

Agree to disagree here IMO Marquez has taken out Rossi. By riding like a dick. Its a race and Marqueze has a record of been a dick:

I saw the overhead shot and agree that marc was partly to blame but Rossi's intention was to run him off the track not just take him wide. He even looked several time to see where he was.

Eh?  The footage that that links to shows Marc trying repeatedly to try and take the turn as Rossi runs him wide and just about off the track.

That footage clearly shows exactly why Rossi should have been disqualified.

Rossi got off very lightly.
