Just about finishing off my mirror blanks for the gen II. Tried a few different methods, gonna spray them up and post the results on here for all to see.

Also been having mad thoughts about chopping the front fairing sides off and making her look a bit like an Aprilia tuono .
(Anyone got a busted up one I can practice on)

Had a ride from Leeds/Hawes/Sedburgh/Settle/Leeds. Saw a few Fazers but not in enough time to give the salute!! Twisty roads.
Still testing the 1000 shock on my 600 that may need tweaking still, but not sure what to do. Front brakes seem to be getting worse so need
some TLC and need some new discs anyway.

Aysgarth Falls was where Robin Hood (with Kevin Costner) was filmed fighting in the waterfall...lovely spot.

Even I managed to get a day ..well afternoon pass from the wife. I took a nice ride from Hull to Wetwang, Stamford Bridge, York, Malton, Staxton, Foxholes, Sledmere, Fridaythorpe, back to Wetwang and home about 120 miles. Bike seems to be covered in flys so a good excuse for a polish.

failed the MOT as the horn was not working (was working sunday)

rewired the earth cable as this had a break. Now passed.

Previous owner wired car horns and used the thinnest speak cable to wire it. Ill rewire it all at the weekend properly :(

I dont think it does though mark....but when i got my crappy headlight fitted the guy said eh it looks like you had the headlight mod and now both lights come on but dont use it unless you really have to as it might get so hot it will melt the wiring........sounds kinda similar to what you got told.

However loads o folk on here do the mod & have no dramas.......well they do have dramas.....not with the lights though. :rolleyes

My MOT tester warned me I could damage the electrics by doing the dual headlamp mod

The tester is incorrect if the modification is done correctly because the on/off switch is only ever switching on or off 2 bulbs maximum like it does without the modification.

However he is correct if the modification is done incorrectly

Without the modification Headlight on the right and dim on the left are on together when switched to Hi and the left dim is on when switched to Lo

With the correct modification the left and right dims are on together when switched to Lo and the headlight on the right and left dim are on when switched to Hi.

If both dims are on the combined wattage is 110watts (2 *55watts dims)

If Headlight and dim are on the combined wattage is 115watts (60watt head and 55watt dim)

Many modified the light incorrectly and ended up with both filaments of the H4 bulb on at the same together and this caused overheating of the bulb and wiring as you had 60w+55+55=170watts being powered via the on/off switch

The correct modification is done by connecting the spare green wire in the left hand switch to the spare connector on the H4 bulb. Follow the wiring from the left hand switch group to the block connector in the electrical box under the tank. You will see one of the connector blocks which has a green wire going in on one side and nothing coming out of the other side. The is the wire you require to connect to the spare connection on the H4 bulb.

Unfortunately I have no pictures to show you so I hope this makes sense  :)

Seriously chaps...some of the roads i think are just a means to an end are probably some other folks wet dream...i really am spoiled......although i will say this...lots of them are small ie narrow & winding & flicky....& pretty foccin dangerous. :evil .....im talking 3rd gear max...maybe 4th until you get cought with too much pace & wish you had more engine braking.

Given the choice i reckon i prob prefer the mid wales more flowing & larger twisties.......but the last few days have given me good practice at slower speeds & the scenery is shit hot.

Completed the oh-so-wrong-feeling DOWNGRADE to standard headlights!  :'(

Double headlight mod completed, of course.

Also switched to the summer fairing and fitted my new/old retro style bar mounted mirrors. (€10 the pair! With E-mark!)

Already ordered a secondary light unit to make sure I can still see in the gloom!

Yet to make some panels to cover the front corners of the frame (rectifier, horn area) and yet to figure out what to do about indicators. But already pretty happy with the more streetfightery look.

NOGGY! Don't trade yours in, we make a good team!!!
