Fz1 front brake discs ...... doh...
« on: 19 July 2015, 07:55:25 pm »
Knew I should not have started to make plans for a new PC5. ........

Anyway noticed some pitting on the front discs tonight and on closer inspection there is a fair bit on both. Measured the thickness and both are 3.8-3.9mm   :'(
Thinking about it they are not as sharp as they were when I first got it....

So started looking and new discs are not cheap, I can get a pair of unbranded for around £130 but would prefer known brand. Any suggestions from you guys where to look, thoughts or experience on unbranded types?
Cheers.

Top job; I live 5 minutes from Fowlups. The spares department really are good, prices are not too bad and the guys take pride in what they do - the rest of Fowlers is less convincing in my opinion.

You do wonder. 60 quid for the FZ1 vs 173 quid for the FZS1000 vs 155 for the R1.

And the prices of the calipers - FZS600/XJR1300/FZS1000/R1 - vary wildly too. I thought all blue spot Yamaha calipers were the same spec but they are different parts numbers. Only the R1 seems to share the same part number with the FZS1000. 440 quid. Gulp.

Just keep riding with a bit of care, the new pads and new discs will take a few hundred miles before they bed in to each other.

Cool, few days to and from work should be enough then  :)
