Engine vibey
« on: 07 March 2016, 03:12:07 pm »
I had the valve clearances done recently and the carb rubbers changed. They said they'd balanced the carbs. Since then there is a horrible vibration between 5000 & 6000 rpm. It comes right up through the seat and is very uncomfortable. Of course that happens to be between 60 & 70 mph. Before the work it was beautifully smooth. So is this normal?

Well balanced carbs make the bike feel really smooth, so I'd say no, something ain't right.

I'll have to have a look at the balancing at the weekend.

Checked the carbs and they're fine, all carbs within 6 mBar of each other. One needed a slight tweak but nothing significant. Still horribly vibey between 5 and 6k prm. A bit like having your balls in a blender. And when you get up to 10k the second harmonic vibes are just as bad if not worse.
