Gissa job
« on: 20 November 2012, 01:46:35 pm »
Made redundant in April this year and at 63 its not so easy to find another job.

I have started doing some car delivery work but its not exactly easy money.

Yesterday, for example, I had to make my own way to High Wycombe (£34), drive a new BMW to Bristol, wait an hour for a lift back to London and then get home. It was a 12 hour day and I cleared a whole £25 !!!!!!!

There must be better casual jobs out there.

Any suggestions???????????????????
I used to not give a foc, then I discovered Red Bull and now I don't give a flying foc !!!

have you got a college near you? contact them to see if they need models for live drawing classes!

easy money for sitting around for a few hours! I've done it a few times in the past!

on a serious note.............look at what skills you have from your prvious job and how you can apply them in any vacancy. At 63 what do you want to do and not want to do and more importantly, what will your body let you do. That car game is a lot of hassle for very little reward and you will probably earn similar collecting glasses/barman type work in your local with less hassle. Driving is ok but don't fall for tight deadlines and lose your licence for someone else who won't give a **** about you
start by making a list (see above) and see where you go
good luck

Tell me about it. Yesterday's job I was told........... "You must be there to collect by 0830"
Left home at 0600 and the car was ready to go at 1115. And I don't get paid for waiting.

Buy tat from a car boot and sell it on eBay this shabby  sheik is the latest fashion so I'm told, or get a website built and sell worn women's tights massive market plenty of Perv's out there pay good money for such items but draw a line when they ask to see you (a male) wearing them.

Its tough out there my business phone line is roughly £100 a month including calls that's £1200 a year the b4stards have now put a low usage fee into the contract and other extra charges and its took it upto £260 a month £3120 a year for the same usage it's fecking ridiculous and they tell me there still 50% cheaper than Bt, i also sent my iphone 5 back from another provider under the 14 days terms because ill be signed into a 18 month contract as I really don't want to be tied into a contract  due to how business is so ill stick with my old iPhone 3 and no contract, I have yellow pages adverts of  £11500 a year, £1800 a year website just to start with and I don't make a profit now I just exist to pay the bills just.

So I'm fecked as well and that bank job is looking tempting but don't ask me to be the get away rider as I can't ride a greasy spoon up a dogs ar5e.

Check out amazon to see if they want drivers. round this way their parcels are delivered by people in their own cars.. i think they do a bulk drop to your home in the morning and you drive around your local area delivering them.
could be worth it with the run up to christmas.

all the deliveries I have had from them tend to be in the evening though. not sure if this an issue for you.
Good luck
Lord,
Grant me the WD-40 to move those things that are stuck, the Duck tape to fasten those things that are loose, And the wisdom to know the difference.

I have it managed by Creare and the seo costs £168 a month x 12 = £2016 they guarantee 1st page top of the listings on google and this is true to there word you don't have a contract as they say if they can't do what they say your free to go elsewhere.

Cost wise they charge per seo by area's ie I advertise in Mansfield/derby/Leicester/Nottingham/chesterfield so 4 area's they charge £20 each area = £80 and than there seo fees making it £168 inclusive

Howevere the google analytics report I get every months suggest I get between 200-250 visits every month this has been consistent in the last 12 months but I don't get any where near that in calls from the site so ill be speaking with Creare shortly as I'm in a niche market and the website is good, so should return a lot more in potential customers..

If I knew anyone that could offer me a better deal ie cheaper and get me listed on 1st page at the top of the google listing I'd happily pay them

Anyone who "guarantees" you first rank on google is talking bollocks and they may even be a positive danger to your ranking because they're probably trying to "game" the ranking system which may work for a while, but when google catch on and change their search algorithms (such as their recent Panda and Penguin updates, any site which has benefitted from an artificial boost using whatever methods were employed is liable to find itself dropping *way* down the rankings.

They don't guarantee 1st rank, what they do guarantee is 1st page listing on google within a short period mine was within a week and top of the listing ie you could be no 2 or 3 ! And Ive been in the same position for the last 12 months im happy with that, Obvious they must no what there doing as they have 1000 of customers and have Been voted no1 for seo campaign and are growing very rapidly.
