Anyone tried an airhawk? Thinking of getting one for european trips. Heard great reviews

hi mate, ive heard of people getting 160 plus miles out of a tank on a fz1 but from my personal experience i have the reserve light usually come on at about 120 miles of easy riding (80mph ish) (although i have heard that the reserve light comes on with a gallon left) so that would add up to the 160 miles however i always fill up asap after the fuel light coming on. also i feel the standard screen on the fz1s is not good enough for long distance or commuting. i have been on the continent twice and the second time was with the fz1s and i wish i had brought a new screen. Givi do one that is 14cm higher than the standard one so that is a good after market purchase at £80 roughly.

I love my fz1 fazer (08 reg) as its light and great on twisty roads whilst also having a good seating position for longer distance riding. it also has great power and always puts a smile on my face. There are better commuting bikes out there but this bike is an all in one if you want my opinion.

Have you considered a MT07 for good mpg? ive heard nothing but amazing reviews about the mt range and cracking prices brand new.

hope this helps, andy

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / givi topbox

Has anybody put a givi topbox on their fz1s 2006 onwards model and gone against givi recommendations to only use monolock up to 37ltr box with max 6kg weight?
I was hoping to use a bigger box than 37ltr and I also heard monokey is better than monolock. Don't wanna do any damage to the bike subframe because of a box.
Any help is appreciated :-)

Cheers for the replies. Currently bidding on rack/arms and monokey plate on ebay. Appreciate the advice.

hello people i have just phoned up my local yamaha dealer and inquired about having A givi box and recommended that on a fz1 i should have a monolock system wish i was always under the impression that the monolock was for scooters and lightweight bikes. Has anybody on here had a monokey plate on a fz1? I would rather have the monokey with a bigger box than a 37ltr with a monolock plate. many thanks

Hi guys. I filled the fzs1000 up at a petrol station, £19 it roughly cost and my warning light has come on at 63 miles. Now I know I've been a bit rev happy because I have just up graded on the 600 however I expected a bit better than 63 miles lol. The MCN review said about 180 miles off a full tank.
Could you let me know what you guys are roughly getting from a full tank please

Hi guys,
Just traded in my fzs600 (2005 plate) for the 1000 model (2008 plate). It appears the fairing is smaller on the 1000 and the windscreen doesn't protect me much at all from the wind. Has anybody out there put a new screen on and if so which one and where from and how much?
Many thanks, andy

Cheers for advice guys but in the end for £50 the guy at the bike shop had the problem b4 that I was experiencing. A loud clunking noise when I was in motion (only in gear) wasn't a worn chain or tight chain that some were saying to me apparently it was the gear sprocket had shifted a little and wasn't catching properly. Glad I did ask the manager to take a quick spin as he had this same problem before and it saved me from potentially doing some unnecessary work and maybe cocking it up even more.

FZ6 / Fazer / New chain & sprockets
« on: 28 March 2013, 05:13:44 pm »
Hi all! I'm new to biking, had my fazer 600 (2005) since October last year. My local bike dealer and also a friend with some knowledge about bikes told me I need a new chain soon..ish. Also advised to change the sprockets at the same time.
Now I would like to become more mechanically minded and with the help of someone who knows what they are doing I would like to replace the chain and sprockets myself. Do any of you think this is unwise? If you think it's best for me to get my bike dealer to do this for me then I would appreciate your input.
Anyone who thinks its okay to do this myself with help from someone who knows what they are doing then what chain and sprockets would you recommend/where to buy them from?
Cheers, andy

Appreciation bwizz, my friend helped me slacken the chain a little bit and it doesn't whine like it used to now. Apparently I do have a tight spot in the chain and I need to buy a new one.
Would you recommend getting a garage to fit the new chain and sprockets or is it a job I would be able to do with someone who knows what they are doing?

My fazer 600 is also making the same kind of whining noise. When I'm applying power it doesn't but as soon as I'm rolling (with no power applied) I can hear it and even more so if I pull in the clutch! I have hardly any knowledge on bikes as I only became a biker last October.
This whining noise however has only come about since a friend tightened up the chain as it was too slack.
