care for stainless downpipes

anyone got some TOP TIPS for cleaning and keeping clean stainless exhaust downpipes  :)
One, is never going to be enough.....

I use peek or autosol metal polish and a green scourer, they come up great!

I use peek or autosol metal polish and a green scourer, they come up great!

Pretty sure I know the answer to this, BUT

Mine have gone slightly golden (which is to do with high temperatures affecting the compounds in the metal correct?) and I assume that no amount of scrubbing / polishing is going to make them return to silver is it?

I had to sand down my downpipes not long ago due to a plastic bag melting onto it and I found that it went back to silver although that only lasted for about 2 rides.

morning all and thanks for your replys..a mixed bag there....i was thinking of painting them black to match the origanal anyone tried that ?   ;)

I did with the original crappy downpipes but certainly wouldn't if I swapped them for lovely stainless.
