The winner for 2015 with the most challenges completed was VAL.
As I as got the last one of 2015 (sort of ) it falls to me to start the 2016 one
So here it is for 2016. As mentioned, I'm not going to be scoring this, so someone needs to pick it up. I suggest Val ---who won the last year .
A reiteration of the rules.
1. All challenges must be of YOUR bike and a landmark, or something obscure or creative, something most people can ride to in their area.
2. Picture has to be taken after challenge is made.
3. Challenge is good for a week; if it is not met after that time, the previous picture poster picks a new challenge.
4. Nothing illegal to be challenged.
5. Keep comments to a minimum; if you comment, post the current challenge in bold type after your comment.
6. No repeat challenges.
7. No other bikes can be used, eg, your bike next to a Ducati. Some exceptions will be allowed, eg, your bike next to a bike cop.
8. Only 1 person can win each challenge; any other entrants will not be counted, due to throwing the whole game off track and adding challenges that don't stand.
9. If any dispute about a challenge occurs, 3 oks from others settles the challenge.
Remember, this thread is supposed to get people to want to go ride straight away and beat others to the challenge - be creative, but be sensible about it.
Have fun Foccers!
The 1st one for 2016 is
Your Bike Next to a Paint Ball Center
-
Here it is Delta Force paintball centre (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Delta+Force+Paintball+-+Maidenhead/)

This is the first and last time that I will keep the score on this 2016 challenge
VAL 1
Every other focer 0

Next challenge your bike next to a water mill.
You sod, I could've sworn that just said "mill", and wasn't specific about what type when I set out with the sole intention of getting that shot in the wee hours of this morning. You wouldn't believe the effort, the cold, the discomfort, the danger I put myself and my bike through to get this shot:

I would accept that ONLY if you remove the rain cover and the disc lock, it was supposed to ride to the challenge :pokefun
Also there will be a bonus if the mill is on a river :lol
like this one:

What if I told you that I rode out to buy the peppermill specifically for this challenge, then put the cover and locks back on the bike when I got back, and took the photo?
Let's see how gullible this chap is :lol

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, only if you have series of date and time stamped pictures to prove that :)

I'll give you 3 days handicap on this one guys :lol

I thought you'd find this easy youngsterbiker :)
Being a young lad, don't you carry your skateboard on the bike with you just in case you need it? :lol
-
Wet and windy this morning!
This is the public skatepark on Ribbleton Park, Preston.
I did a rather impressive run starting with the coffin, into a nac nac then finishing with the crowd pleasing kiss of death, some kids walking to school gave a cheer. Unfortunately the tripod fell over so you will just have to be happy with this non action picture...
It is a small skatepark, but a skatepark it is

Next please

ok, this should be a fun and interesting one:
A picture with your bike in a Then and Now comparison with a historical urban photograph.
Such as these - This is Prestons Miller Arcade in 1902
(https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1535/23931795340_d6e3a27cb1_z.jpg)
So, you would find a pic like that, then recreate it with your Fazer in the shot, so this would be something like:
This is Miller arcade today (well, recent - not sure of the exact data...), It is clearly the same place but a different era. Your Fazer would be in that picture.
The pic needs to be recognizably in the same place (ie you can't take a picture of a field, then your bike outside your new build house).
-

So you didn't manage the Superman seat topbox grab? :b
Really like your idea for the next pic too.

I overheard an onlookers child ask "Is that Batman?" at least that's what I think I heard, presumably due to my black waterproof overgear... I thought doing a Superman might confuse matters :)
-
you misheard them...... FAT man....... ;)

to continue with the historical theme
Next challenge your bike with building that has 17th century years sign
for example 1666 :)
-
I like the way your bike is in the same place as the horse and cart.
I think that was a brilliant and interesting challenge- it should have its own separate section for everyone to post theirs in

Nope against the rules as the pic has to be taken after the challenge was set ie today and if i did it your way the image data would say taken yesterday, because traveled forward to get the challenge then when back to yesterday where the camera was just befor I went out for a ride
My way I get the challenge today and go back to yesterday WITH the camera from today that still says today's date and take the picture so the picture date on the camera will still of been taken after the challenge was set.
Your way would just be cheating

I think you have got confused in the space/time continuum, or maybe I have. Now what day is it, and where did this extra day in this month come from. Smells like the daleks to me.

Should have read the dictionary before posting that :lol
Oxford dictionary defines windmill as:
1. A building with sails (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/sail#sail__2) or vanes that turn in the wind and generate (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/generate#generate__2) power to grind (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/grind#grind__3) corn (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/corn#corn__2) into flour (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/flour#flour__2).
1.1A structure using (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/use#use__2) wind to generate (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/generate#generate__8) electricity (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/electricity#electricity__2) or draw water.
http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/windmill (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/windmill)

A day off work and chance for a ride out on the bike. I tried to coax Dazza out too but no luck. Took the nice roads down from Faversham to Canterbury (one of Dazza's fave roads) and then went down through Wingham to Sandwich before heading off to Dover to the Crabble Corn Mill. As a Brucie Bonus you get my bike with Dover Castle too! :)

A quick question, is a priory ok, or does it have to be monastery?
anything with relation to christianity will do :)
-
I hadn't read the last few posts before setting off this morning and only read the last one while stopped outside the shops.
It doesn't really count, especially if anyone can get a picture up of a monastery/priory but I thought I'd share it anyway.
I was out early and got a picture of Barnack Hills and Holes. It's an old quarry where the stone was quarried for Peterborough and Ely cathedrals. It's a nature reserve now and an excellent place for butterflies and walking the dog.
Difficult to get a decent picture though.

Okey doke.
Your bike on a humpback bridge over a railway line.
Actually I think that sounds like a dangerous challenge as those kind of things are usually on bendy country roads and the last thing a car expects is a :faz riding doing this :photo at the top of it
-
what about a hump back bridge over a railway line in the dark. :eek
-
Ok here is a hump back bridge, all be it, over a nice safe non busy canal - proof of it being a hump back by the exhaust scratches in the road.
Do you think this will do.
-
good enough to me next challenge please....

Just a reminder to everyone to keep it safe - rules state
Remember, this thread is supposed to get people to want to go ride straight away and beat others to the challenge - be creative, but be sensible about it.
I doubt that may people visit Grazerley but it looks to me that you "may" of stopped on a "slightly dodgy" bit of road for the shot --- I am just going by the double white lines.
Not trying to have a dig - far be it from me to give people lessons, just sayin. :D

I can take contructive criticism well :)
Having said that the double white lines are in the middle and we have dotted line where my bike is stopped. Am I missing some unkown to me Highway Code rule here? It is possible...The reason I have stopped not on the side of the sign is exactly because it was not safe - after a bend with no visibility and solid white line. The place where I do have stopped has very good visibility for all vehicles coming towards me and has dotted white line - means I can stop there fine. Just saying :D
Good point that.

Have you caught a picture of a buzard in your left wing mirror
-
Better check the rules again mr sharpe....iam sure val has used that post box before :lol
-
Dont you worry about that - nothing gets past me.
My first thought was that rule 2 was being broke 2. Picture has to be taken after challenge is made.
Because a gold box was used to win a challenge before but then I saw that it was the mto9 which proves it was indeed a new picture.
There is nothing in the rules to say the photographed item cannot be used again under a different challenge so it may have to stand. One challenge was to actually find a gold box, and this one was a sporting interest.
It does fit the challenge in that it is a sporting interest, I will leave it to the gold box poster whether or not their moral compass requires them to have another go.
-
Have you caught a picture of a buzard in your left wing mirror
Yes I saw that too now, how good I am :lol
Sporting interest and a buzard as a bonus :rollin
Anyhow do you accept it guys? That is why I have done 2 pictures to show the plaque. It is not easy to find sporting interest commemorative plaques around.
-
Good for me
-
Next challenge your bike with something Roman - ruins, vila, stones, wall, building, anything.
-
That rules out the Scots and Irish since they never ventured that far :'(
-
That rules out the Scots and Irish since they never ventured that far :'(
Not at all, just means you get more time on your Fazer travelling to get this one ;)
Next challenge your bike with something Roman - ruins, vila, stones, wall, building, anything.
-
How about this, its a Roman road the Fosse way, taken on a quieter section and then the road sign on a modern section of the road. You can still see the ditch each side of the raised road.
The Fosse Way is an ancient Roman road that ran for 182 miles linking the Roman settlements at Exeter and Lincoln, via the other Roman settlements at Ilchester, Bath, Cirencester and Leicester. The name of the Fosse Way derives from the Latin word for ditch and for the early part of Roman rule in Britain the Fosse Way marked the western border of Roman control. The Fosse Way may have started life as a defensive ditch and then latterly been converted into a road, or the initial construction may have been a road supported by a ditch - the jury is still out on that one.
-
Well come on then - is it only me and VAL playing.
Can I set a new challenge.
-
Right ok new Challenge
Your bike and a famous bridge
Off you you go should be easy enough for everyone
-
Any one :lmao2
-
I'm on it.......
-
Me too 8)
-
Two bridges for the price of one. The original Kingsferry bridge is one of the only of it's kind, it's a dual road and rail lifting bridge and links mainland Kent with the Isle of Sheppey. In 2006 it was replaced with the Sheppey Crossing which is sadly the site of the biggest traffic collision in history with over 100 cars piling into each other in dense fog, mainly driven by people with dense brains and not driving to the conditions!

I think we should keep it topical so
Your Bike and a Turkey
To make it a bit easier it could be outside a turkey farm or turkeys in a butchers shop window. Or even a farm sign advertising turkeys, so turkeys dead or alive.
-
Here you are, I live on a farm and I have a turkey, so technically it's a Turkey farm, errrr oooh arrr
-
If you like but remember the spirit of the challenge is to actually go out and ride the bike. So that's a no but nice try from me.
Looks like your MT has got an oil leak
-
