FZS600 Fazer / Losing my mind! (replacing the throttle cable)
« on: 27 February 2019, 09:14:11 am »
Hey Foccers!

Recently snapped my pull-cable, got a new set from WeMoto delivered but I can't for the life of me seem to get the old cables off the carbs and new ones on.

Have removed everything but the battery and airbox, was hoping to be able to wiggle them in without removing half the bike (limited tools and street parking).

Have looked for youtube vids with no luck, searched here with the same luck.

Anyone have any links or tips it would be much appreciated as I'm about to just light the bike on fire and get a new one out of pure rage.

FZS600 Fazer / Thanks for the tip about 15w!
« on: 01 August 2018, 08:17:32 am »
Hey!
Thought I'd update you lads after servicing the Fazer with new seals and 15w front fork oil: What an upgrade!

Just got mine back with new bearings, brakes, drivetrain and other items - and the effect of the shock upgrade was incredible. Thanks for convincing me! =D
((Is it a good sign when you ask the mechanic several times if he spotted anything that needs work, and he says 'neh - bike is almost perfect mate, you don't even need to do the carbs'?))

FZS600 Fazer / Strange and intermittent electrical problem
« on: 20 June 2018, 07:07:44 pm »
Hello fellow Foccers (that will never not give me a giggle)

Have noticed that on some occasions my clock has been reset on the bike earlier, it's happened once or twice while driving as well (clock+ODO reset, dashboard and gauges reset before returning to normal).
One morning it 'hung up' and repeated the initial startup where the clock blinks etc endlessly. No lights, seemed to have no or very low power. I left it for a while, treated it to some well chosen words, wiggled some wires etc, few mins later she's back to normal and I've not seen the issue again (5 days or so ago).
Since the bike's already not behaving 100% right I've been suspecting the regulator is failing. Normal problem on this island they say, as it's very dusty and very warm.

Anyone seen the same or similar problem on theirs?

Good evening foccers!
About to give the Fazer a bit of a makeover, since it's still not running 100% (has a cutoff at around 7-8k rpm, then pulls as normal). Have already cut some off the leads and changed to the NGK caps which fixed most of it, will send it for a service and figured I might as well get a KN filter or similar. As the tank is coming off, figured I'd have the carbs refurbished as well as replace the Regulator. I'm presuming switching to different jets is recommended with more air flow, and it already has a Mivv pipe on it. Got tips on what jets to get?

Second part, I've seen these LED H4 bulbs that have the inverter built into it, anyone tried these on their bikes? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07B79C19R/ref=sspa_dk_detail_6?psc=1

Chain and sprockets are getting swapped, I've seen the cheaper kits with DID chains from about €90 (530 dimension), or the more expensive Renthal for almost twice. I ride on Malta, where the roads range from abysmal to just horrible so the suspension takes a beating, chain as well. Anyone tried the various kits available online and have recommendations?

Brakes will need some TLC too, from the clues (stripped head on the reservoir and really funky braking at times) brake fluid and bleeding is long overdue. I don't ride in the rain and i saw some thread here (which I can't find now) about how there's a kind of pad that works well for those conditions? After a search, seems I might have to swap the front bearing too.

... buy a cheap bike just for daily use, wont have to spend much money on it and upgrade later. Anyone else had that same thought, but then just loved the Fazer?

FZS600 Fazer / FZS600 runs rough after washing the bike
« on: 16 April 2018, 06:55:58 pm »
Hey!
First of all, thanks for all the useful info on this forum, has helped me a lot already (Renthal swap was by advice from this place, new front locking nut is about to be mounted when i swap chain+sprockets).
I own a 2003 FZS600, gave it a good wash this weekend and found it to be running like a parallel-twin after the washing was done. Looked nice but ran like crap - the exact opposite as before the wash. Running on 2-3 cylinders, had to be kept running by throttle, had no pull - especially under 5k.
Over 6-7k it runs like normal and pulls well, same if i give it a lot of throttle on low-mid RPM, it'd run fine for a while then start running rough if i kept feathering the throttle in normal traffic.
Have had the issue on a TDM previously, where heavy rain would gather around the sparkplugs/caps and make it run rough, similar problems with the Fazer?
I have half a thought of water in the air filter/housing, but in that case the bike wouldn't come alive on higher RPMS would it?

Appreciate all the help and input.
