FZS600 Fazer / Stop the bike dying in winter
« on: 02 January 2023, 04:13:39 pm »
So I have had my fzs600 for 4 years now and after very winter when it doesn’t get ridden much, it won’t start it’s basically always the carbs so I taken them out give them a spray and it starts.

How do you stop this happening ? Feel like riding to work tomorrow and I can’t because the fucker won’t start again.

In all fairness I’m tempted to get rid as it has been one problem after another for the past 4 years and now I don’t really trust it, which is sad

FZS600 Fazer / Reg Rec Wiring
« on: 29 September 2022, 04:28:22 pm »
Hello!

The reg/rec on my fzs 600 2003 has melted the connectors! It also has been rewired so a standard oem rec/reg wont fit any more.

Few questions!

  • Does the order of the white wires matter when connecting to the reg/rec ?
  • Could i just hard wire it with my new reg/rec ?
  • If no on number 2, what connector do i need and any advice / tutorial on how to fit the wires into the connector ?
Thanks all!

FZS600 Fazer / Front wheel feels odd
« on: 25 February 2022, 05:50:38 pm »
My bike has sat over winter and it starts and runs fine. Brakes have just been refurbed and everything feels good. Apart from the front wheel.

At low ish speeds 20 mph I have to fight against the handle bars to stop them snapping left or right depending on which way I turn.

If I do turn slightly turn right my handles bars want to snap instantly all the way to the right and it feels dangerous like the front is trying to wash out.

Feels like a flat tyre but it’s at 36 psi I tried 40 psi and it’s the same. Front brakes aren’t binding, can’t feel any sloppy ness or grinding in the head bearing, suspension has had new oil and feels good and I haven’t changed the geometry by dropping the forks.

I’m stumped

FZS600 Fazer / Valve clearance re shim or leave
« on: 03 October 2021, 10:23:58 am »
Just checked my clearances in my 2003 fazer has 27k miles on it. All the clearances are in tolerance but only just. All my inlets are .11-.12 and exhausts are .21-.22. Question is should I leave this as it is or go get it re shimmed so they sit on the upper end of tolerance as they get tighter with age! Thanks in advance

FZS600 Fazer / Rear brake rebuild
« on: 15 August 2019, 06:53:08 pm »
Have a fzs600 2002. Bought some rear caliper break seals of wemoto. The piston seal fitted like a glove but the dust seal was a struggle. Looks to big but does fit with a bit of faffing.

Trying to put the piston back into the caliper and it won't budge past the the dust seal anyone got advice ?

Cheers

FZS600 Fazer / Starter relay
« on: 13 May 2019, 10:48:49 pm »
My bike wont start! The starter relay has the red cable connected from the battery but the black cable has come loose. Does any one know what bolt size I need to re-attach. Attached a picture to make more sense.

FZS600 Fazer / Fazer carb cleaned! Now a twin
« on: 05 May 2019, 01:48:46 pm »
As the title says I cleaned my carbs and the 2 middle cylinders aren't combusting :(. I cleaned my carbs because of rough idle I found the offending pilot jet and cleaned it. A break down of what I did is:
- carbs out
- removed bottom of each carb
- removed pilot and main jet and cleaned with carb cleaner.
- carbs back in bike
- 2 throttle cables connected
- fuel line connected
- 2 coolant hoses connected
- idle connected

I have a feeling the 2 middle carbs are not seated correctly as the two middle down pipes stay dead cold while the other two get very hot. Any advice of something maybe obvious I missed ? Got a track day in 3 weeks so all help appreciated.  Thanks
