yep the bmw shock is a good mod also not quite out the box but still a good option

the stock shock isnt about failure more over its inability to perform correctly - there are other on here who can give you the low down on the bmw conversion and i thing someone was doing the bushes all i ask is you relocate to your own thread as id like to keep this r6 based

the above silver is heading to Ireland so i have two reds in stock

What's a typical sort of mileage you can expect to get out of one of these things (average sort of weight rider)? Mine's on about 27k now, and just starting to get a suspicion it's not at its best.

Not complaining Luke, I wouldn't expect one to last forever, and I agree it has lasted in effective condition much longer than the standard crappy item would. It's just I've noticed the rear end isn't handling quick direction changes so well lately - feels like it needs a moment to settle. Or at least, I think so. I need to check it out a bit further yet, it might be just me. I was chasing (trying to) a Ducati 1299 on a fast winding A road the other day, so it may be I was just pushing harder than usual  :lol

But I was curious anyway - if it made it to 50k, I'd be very impressed.

Recieved my r6 shock from Devilsyam on Monday and fitted this morning. Huge difference especially in corners and very easy to do with the easy instructions. Thanks again Devilsyam and roll on the 7th of July when I get the full Monty done 😊ps I wouldn't have even known abouts these mods if it wasn't for you guys on this forum so thanks everyone!!

Hi Devilsyam,
I have the r6 shock mod but have also just had ktec springs matched to my weight and 10w oil as recommended by ktec fitted. Forks are 10mm through yolks. I am 14 stone in kit. The bike is running on Dunlop Roadsmart 3's tyre pressures front 35 and rear 39. Since fitting the forks the bike has developed a high speed weave. This is during hard acceleration above 9k and towards the silly end of the speedo! Below that in general use or short shifting its fine.Any suggestions on the fork and rear suspension set up please? Sag seems correct. All usual suspect bearings have been checked and fine. Cheers

as this has happened after fork fit id be inclined to check front setting look for for sticksion make sure both legs have same setting
go back to factory settings as yo need a base point to work from

sticksion is when the fork are clamped either resting on the deck or if yokes tightened oddly

the way to remove it is lift front end remove wheel undo clamps so legs are relaxed

nip uo lower yoke first just enough to hold the leg

now tighten top yoke bit at a time left then right till both are torqued

now undo the lower yoke till bolts are loose this allows any tension out again clamp either side bit by bit till torqued

assuming all bearings are good and your happy go try it

also ive come across alot of fazers in my time were the front wheel is over tightened so check torque on this to

let me know how you get on

So today I put the front forks back to recommended settings as per the fazer manual despite the ktec springs and thicker oil. I also put forks back to flush with yolks. I did as you suggested with the loosening of bolts, bouncing front and tightening. It made no difference. Hard acceleration around 110mph (closed road!) speed weave. Forks thru 10mm...standard settings...same. Forks thru 13mm! Same! Rear preload up to one off max. Same! Front rebound dialled back to absolute minimum and all as before...the bike is on its nose. Same though maybe not quite as violent. Really stumped! I am thinking of taking the forks back to the mechanic who fitted the springs and oil...summats up!

have you got a steering damper? as these have been known to cause problems
