with the new shock it no longer squats under hard acceleration and gets the front end nicely light. Afetr that? Finding out what this Ivan's stuff is all about.

courier attempted del Friday to OZ but no one homeBloody hell! How can the whole of OZ all be out at the same time??????
Another success story with the R6 shock upgrade. Fitted mine today.I second everything this man says about this mod,,he put it into words far better than i could,,cheers
Its light years ahead of the std shock (mine with heavier spring fitted), and like someone else on this site mentioned the rebound was all or nothing, mine was all and crashing over bumps having to put up with it so she wouldn't wallow around and want to run wide.
Bumps are now properly absorbed and the steering is far better. The bike fells lighter to ride, drops into corners more willingly and much more confidence inspiring.
Sent Monday courier attempted del Friday to OZ but no one home cause didn't expect it that quickly so redirected to work.
I'm not the best at wheelies but tried a couple of small clutch ups in 1st and the bikes front wheel comes up much easier :lol - and not coming up to quickly or not at all, like it was before.
Thanks for the kit Devilsyam, clear photo instructions included made it a straight forward job.

Hi Luke I have one of ur R6 shock kits on my fazer, it was there when I bought the bike last yr and a great bit of kit it is as well, one question what yr R6 are the shocks off, as I'm wanting to change the spring to a hyperpro progressive spring any info would be great.... :)
In all the units I've done never had anyone want to change the spring as pointed out not the best move old adage if ain't broke don't fix it lol
In all the units I've done never had anyone want to change the spring as pointed out not the best move old adage if ain't broke don't fix it lol
Was just curious that and the road up here on the west coast of Scotland ain't getting any smoother (either that or I'm just getting older... :lol ) I still want the pin sharp handling but would like a little bit of comfort (I know it normally one or the other) but thought I'd ask.
Did a search on the forum, l then google and I think I have found the info I need but wanted to confirm.Anyone..?
The stock dogbones are 140mm..?
The shorter custom dogbones from Luke are 135mm..?
Im asking because 'I think' when I put the R6 shock on ages ago, I must have put the stock bones by mistake. But this was almost a year ago and what prompted/reminded me is that the bike is running a wide'ish in corners (if I dont lean off the bike) and the front is getting light under heavy acceleration all the way upto 4th after a rolling start.
bone sizes are wrong you will be low at the rearOk good, not going paranoid then. How long are the bones that would have come with the shock..? hopefully they are sitting in my spares box.
Shorter than bothers thoseWhats the actuall measurement between the holes btw..?
Pmd you price etcGrand, replied. Can you confirm the distance between the holes..?
Any chance of getting an answer to the above question?Shorter than bothers thoseWhats the actuall measurement between the holes btw..?
Devilsyam kindy sent me a set of Dogbones.Shorter than bothers thoseWhats the actuall measurement between the holes btw..?
Devilsyam will know for sure, if I remember correctly the standard dogbones with R6 shock will raise the standard seat height by approx 25mm.....that was too high for me so I purchased dogbones from devilsyam to put it back to standard height with the R6 shock fitted....
Luke
Yes please!

Just a note for those who are now buying bikes fitted with the r6 shockJust did this with Luke, well worth a fiver and help much appreciated as I did not even buy the shock from him, most people would have said "bugger off and get settings from the guy you got it from" :D
I have had a few requests for change of settings which I'm happy to share I require no payment for this instead a small fee of 5 quid to be paid to help for hero's which can b done online this helps a needy cause and sorts out the correct settings for your weight and ride style
yep the bmw shock is a good mod also not quite out the box but still a good option
the stock shock isnt about failure more over its inability to perform correctly - there are other on here who can give you the low down on the bmw conversion and i thing someone was doing the bushes all i ask is you relocate to your own thread as id like to keep this r6 based
the above silver is heading to Ireland so i have two reds in stock
Hi there peeps
what is difference between the r6 shock and the 1000 one ?
They look the same
can you drop me a email please devilsyam@gmail.com

Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Over the hill and far away Posts: 8,158 Copied from the FZ1OA, a lovely tribute from Mike ( Falcon ) I first met Luke back in 2003 when he brought his Fazer Thou to me to have Ivan's slip-on kit fitted. His was probably the third or fourth installation I did. Back then he was a big guy, if you get my drift. Suffice to say that the stock rear shock wasn't up to Luke's specifications. He lived just the other side of town from me and the next time I saw him, he'd installed a nitrous kit on the bike and had it over-bored to 1060cc. Figure 170bhp at the rear wheel when he hit the gas button. Still on stock suspension. Fair to say that Luke wasn't too fussed about dragging pegs but liked straightline 'go'. We saw each other on and off numerous times in the following years, even though I'd moved to Spain in 2004. Every Gen 1 he bought - and there were many - he got me to 'Ivanize' for him, even though his spannering skills were superior to mine. I spent many days working out of his little lock-up garage in Bristol, a swarf-strewn, oily rag filled place, with old carpets on the floor and boxes of bits on every surface. Those bits included all the genius ideas he had for improving or just blinging up the mighty Thou. Dogged with health issues for all the time I knew him, I never once heard him complain. He just took what life threw at him and looked to make it better, for himself and for his family. His love for Sue and his kids was clear to see, as strong as his love for life. There was no such thing as 'can't be done' in Luke's mindset. Got a health problem? Deal with it. Want a holiday in the USA? Make it happen. Feel like fitting a single-side swingarm to Fazer Thou? Get 'er done! We've all seen the amazing things he did with his bikes, and not just the Fazers. He just loved taking something and making it better. Better looking, better performing, better to own. He was proud of his creations but very modest about his achievements. His local motorcycle main dealership almost banned him from their sales floor because he was forever there measuring up suspension units and trying to figure out which shock or whatever could be grafted on to his latest project. The R6 shock mod which hundreds of us now enjoy came about from Luke scrabbling around underneath pretty much every mark of sportsbike that Fowlers had in stock. I could go on recalling the feats of this great guy and those who were lucky enough to know him will have similar stories to tell. Our lives are richer for having known him. There's a permanent parking place in my memory for Luke and his machines. Speed on the straights, mate, easy on the curves. Smooth tarmac and warm rides from here on in. Mike |
