Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / exup
« on: 11 June 2012, 07:02:53 pm »
Stripped my exup valve today it was siezed solid partly open. The cables had been slackened enough so that the servo still moved so didnt throw up the 7k tacho error. Amazingly all the bolts came out without breaking  :eek  and its a totaly different bike now its working properly. Hadnt ridden one before mine so didnt realise how strangled it was at the top end till now.

Glad your enjoying it. My Gen1 is really buzzy through the grips at 4-4500 revs or there abouts again fine with thick gloves but a pain with summer gloves. May try some different grips or heavier bar end wieghts to see if that helps it any.

One thing I would check before getting the alarm removed is how much of a difference it makes to the insurance.
The difference for my ducati with alarm to without was 87p  :lol

Fitted shock today gave the bearings a grease and stuck it back together all done in about 40 minutes. Took the bike for a spin and cant believe how much better it is than with the stock shock fitted looks fantastic in yellow with the nice shiny dog bones.

Hi Andrew & Dylan
I took the easy option and bought mine from Luke (devilsyam) on this forum if you PM him he will be able to sell you the correct length dog bones and spacers for the top mount. I got my shock today as a complete kit and took less than an hour to fit and the differance is amazing!

Maybe time to service the suspension fresh oil etc. Even good kit gets tired eventually. Depend how hard you were trying. I got smoked by a guy on a new gixxer thou yesterday had the fazer tied in knots trying to keep him in sight let alone keep up!

General / Re: bugs on visor - soap and water or something better ?
« on: 22 May 2012, 04:48:28 pm »
soak some kitchen towel with water. cover the visor evenly and allow to stand for 10 or 15 minutes. remove and wipe off dead flies. no scrubbing or rubbing so avoids scratching the visor. but thats just what i do ;)
me too

Most of the factory fitted alarms are wired directly into the loom but can be removed and use a replacement plug with the connections bridged to allow the bike to run normally. Got one for a Triumph tiger from Fowlers recently took 2 minutes to fit job done. Mind you I took the datatool off my bro in laws VFR800 recently and had the bike running in about 10 minutes so not much of a challenge if they are determined to have your bike im afraid.

Well thats my new shock on order decided to go for devilyams R6 shock upgrade so just waiting for it to arrive now. Had a look at the usual suspects nitron etc and after reading the guys on heres reports decided the r6 one was the way to go. Looking forward to getting it and slinging the old one in the bin. its the only real weak point on a great bike.

Nice setup. One of the main things i miss having moved from the multistrada is the hand gaurds. Have been looking at ktm ones so may give them a go. When are you coming up to scotland?

Got a couple of jobs still to do. Had the 7k error a couple of times so retensioned the cables but the exup needs lubed at some stage. Had the same with my 99 R1 so no big deal. Been spraying the bolts with penetrating oil every day so fingers crossed they come out ok.  :)
Also got a set of shorter dog bones to stick on while im underneath. Had a set on my bandit 12 and it made a massive difference not sure how much it will change the fazer but time will tell.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / happy so far
« on: 16 May 2012, 10:45:59 pm »
Well thats me survived the first week of fazer ownership and im happy with it. So far so good  :) .
Stuck a new pair of tyres on yesterday went for pirelli angel st in the end and have done just over 100 miles will have to see how they go but seem pretty good so far.
Also fitted a powertech can and link pipe with the baffle fitted its not much louder than stock and hasnt affected the running any. Pulled the plugs and they look the same colour as with the standard can. The baffle is riveted so need to break out the drill before i can see what its like with it removed. The can itself seems pretty well made especially at the price £125 including link pipe and clamps.

Hi guys
Just picked up an 05 fazer 1000. I have fancied one for a while have owned loads of different sports bikes then changed to a ducati moneypit oops i mean multistrada. Happy with it so far not that i have been out much since the weather in not very sunny scotland is rubbish as usual.  :(
