FZS600 Fazer / R1 Clocks Switch - Electrical help
« on: 21 October 2020, 11:11:10 pm »
Can anyone with a bit of electrical know how give me a hand with this?

I'm trying to switch the clocks on my 2000 plate FZS600 with a R1 (5JJ) clocks.

I have the R1 front end on the bike, having the corresponding speed sensor / clocks seemed like a good idea at the time :rollin

I'm struggling with working out what's what, on the R1 terminal from the wiring diagram.

Perhaps I am going about it the wrong way?

FZS600 Fazer / Bolt on Swing Arm?
« on: 25 June 2019, 09:03:49 am »
Hi,

Does anyone know if there are any swing arms that "bolt on" to an FZS600 (1999).

Answers ideally from anyone who has actually done it.

Searching the forum maybe an Kwak ER6 (2010)? or R6 (Year?).

Thanks,

James

FZS600 Fazer / Ignition Barrel Electrics
« on: 07 November 2018, 08:15:35 pm »
Hi all,

Did the electrics change at all between the FZS 600 models? I am looking to replace the ignition barrel on my 1998 fzs600 and have found a 2003 one on ebay.

Will it be a straight swap?

Thanks in advance

FZS600 Fazer / Front Tyre Question
« on: 18 May 2018, 02:20:18 pm »
Afternoon all,

a friend of mine recommend the metzeler roadtec 01 tyres.

http://www.metzeler.com/site/uk/en/products/tyres-catalogue/Roadtec-01

It says at the bottom of that page they do a looks like they do a 110/70 - 17 M/C 54H TL, which would be great.

However, it looks like an ADV version? And it doesn't have the normal speed rating, what do you guys reckon, would it be different profile or unsafe to use?

Cheers,

FZS600 Fazer / Free Fuel Sender Unit
« on: 05 February 2018, 03:22:06 pm »
Hi all,

Is anyone in need of a fuel sender unit?  Is your fuel gauge not working?

I purchased it for my 2003 FZS 600. But its does not match the one i took out so i assume it is for the pre-facelift version.

Please see photo.  If you want to pay for postage, or meet around the Croydon Bromley area its yours for free / a 4 pack of beer.

Thanks.

FZS600 Fazer / Front Fork Stanchions/Tubes
« on: 19 January 2018, 02:17:01 pm »
Hi all,

I have surface rust on my front fork stanchions/tubes. Although it is nowhere near the seals, it annoys me, and i want to replace them for aesthetic reasons.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-Fazer-600-1999-2002-fork-tube-stanchion-x-1-Made-in-the-Uk/192408217826?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Seem a good deal.

Will i need to replace the fork seals? Has anyone had any issues resulting from replacing either part?

Thanks

FZS600 Fazer / UK Motorcycle Scrap Yards?
« on: 21 September 2017, 01:27:37 pm »
Hi all,

Does anyone know of any scrap yards in the UK that specialise in bikes? Preferably the old school type, that let you wander round and have a look at the stock, rather than call up and ask for a specific part/bike.

These days health and safety might have put a stop to it?

Any input welcome

Cheers,

James

General / R6 Shock preload Adjustment - FZS 600 - No space!
« on: 22 May 2017, 10:22:19 am »
Morning All,

I recently fitted the R6 shock to my 2003 FZS 600.

I cant seem to get the C Spanner in to adjust the pre-load.  Has anyone else had this problem?   Is there an easy work around?

FYI i was going in from the offside (right hand/ accelerator side) but the larger shock makes it too tight to get the spanner on to the shock and room to adjust.

Any input welcome,

Cheers,

James

Hi all,

I am looking for some panniers and the kit to fit them to my 2003 FZS 600.

Hard panniers preferred, though decent waterproof soft would be considered.

For Sale & Wanted / Swap a fzs600 for fzs1000?
« on: 19 January 2017, 04:09:04 pm »
Hi all,

Would there be any interest in swapping my 2003 FZS600 for a 1000?  The difference in price could be made up in cash.

My bike is mint, 17,000 miles on it.  Road pilots front and back went on about 500/1000 miles ago. Front pads are new, braided front lines. pretty much fully stock except for the end can.

It was really just to gauge if there was any interest, if someone is looking to downsize maybe?

Cheers,

James

FZS600 Fazer / What do you reckon to these springs?
« on: 07 December 2016, 04:07:34 pm »
Afternoon all,

My work have kindly given me some tokens that i can use at my local bike parts store  :D (Laguna Motorcycles).  I am after some progressive springs so I rang them up and they said they have the below in stock:

http://www.performanceparts-ltd.com/road/Yamaha/1057_fzs-600-fazer-00-03/2003/categories/suspension-and-handling/hyperpro-shocks--springs/SP-YA06-SSA004

Has anyone had any experience with this brand?

I think they would also order in pretty much anything i ask for, so what is generally regarded as the best?

Any opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

James

FZS600 Fazer / Is this right?
« on: 27 August 2016, 11:33:50 am »
Hi all,

I'm away on a touring trip at the moment, felt some vibration coming through the bike.

I have just adjusted the chain to the spec in the manual but it's seems to be slapping about a bit. What do you reckon to the video is this right???

Also I have cleaned up the front brakes as they were binding. Bled them properly afterwards but they still seem to be binding on the disks, any ideas why that might be??

Thanks all in advance, any suggestions welcome!

Cheers,

James

FZS600 Fazer / Advice for first big touring trip?
« on: 19 August 2016, 08:25:40 am »
Hi all,

I will be heading off to Scotland from London on my 2003 FZS600 over the Aug bank holiday weekend. Is there any bits of advice that will make this more comfortable/safe?

I have decent safety gear and go out fairly prepared with tool kit, inc. fuel hose for siphoning if I run out, mobile charger hooked up. I will also have a good look round the bike, check tires and their pressures, chain clean and lube.  Apart from an end can, renthals and top box the bike is pretty much standard.

What are the prevailing thoughts on tire plugs?

Anything I am missing?

Cheers,

James

FZS600 Fazer / Increase Gearing for Touring and Motorway Use
« on: 21 June 2016, 09:51:28 am »
Hi all,

Is it possible to increase the speed vs revs ratio of the gears for more comfortable use on the motorway?

I am going to be doing some touring over the summer, currently when at motorway speeds 70/80 mph equals about 6000/7000 revs.

I have always found the current gear ratios mean I need to change up through the gears really quickly when riding in town, especially getting out first. Basically I want to know if it is possible/economically viable to switch the gears out of my FZS 600 (2003).

Thanks!

FZS600 Fazer / Supporting Bike While Changing Both Tyres
« on: 18 May 2016, 04:33:56 pm »
What is the best way to go about supporting my bike if I want to take off both wheels?

I want to take them down to Watling's to get both tyres changed.  If you take them to them loose it works out at £15 a wheel.

I'm guessing some sort of center stand and bricks combo might do it?

Cheers!
