Wezmoto Brake Lines
« on: 03 July 2013, 08:32:38 pm »
Yes i know its been done but....

Thinking about these.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130938743037&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en

Who has them and any feedback on them, i know Hel etc are better but also more expensive.
I want to know about these please. Lifetime warranty must be a good thing, surely.

Cheers
Nick

I purchased a wezmoto rear line after I managed to run over the old one (yes you read that right), seems to be decent, no issues.

Got Venhill on mine, very good, but i'd say they're all pretty much the same when new anyway!

I have black wezmoto lines with black fittings. They sent the wrong thread banjo bolts.  I called them ans they said they would send another set but they never arrived. Used my old ones with the new copper washers.
Apart from that, no problems.

Front lines only but what's not to love about these little beauties?

And from a trusted source too!

The price?

These are fronts only and are more expensive than the Wezmoto set that the OP posted up

I've just put these on. I know they are front only but I've already got a braided one on the back. Good value if you ask me. I've had all sorts of braided hoses on all my bikes I cant honestly see a difference. If you are keeping your bike for a long time and ride through the winter then stainless banjos are a good idea, if your just using your bike for a bit of fun when the weather is OK then I don't think it matters as long as you take good care of your bike washing and lubing regular.

Hence my point of stating they are fronts only!

The main difference between any set of braided hoses is rarely anything to do with the hose itself but the banjo bolts and other fixings supplied.

One thing I will not scrimp and save on is that which I rely on to stop the bike!

Those goodridge lines are purdy!

I understand and agree, I have HEL lines myself but I think the OP was trying to save some money and so was looking at the Wezmoto lines. I also assumed that he wanted a full set (based on his original link) instead of just fronts :)

just about to order some of these myself...
http://www.helperformance.com/hel-brake-lines-for-yamaha-fzs600-fazer-1998-2003-en.html
the wemoto look ok but i'd rather have a decent brake line from a trusted name.
in real terms is £30 worth it for stopping assurance ?

Also remembering this is a one off purchase which will outlast the life of the bike, if you stick with a fazer you know you can transfer the lines, even if you buy a different bike the lines may well fit!

Just to shove a spanner in the works it was the Goodridge lines that failed on my bike, causing no end of trouble for months with juddering on braking.
Because they were braided with no leaks or visual problems i simply never thought they could be the problem!
How very wrong was i  :'(

BUT, i don't know how old they were, or the history of the bike, so don't let that put you off them as i will never know what caused them to fail, apart from the fact the previous owner treated the bike like shit. >:

Hi guys, thought this might happen.
Just to confirm i would like a full set. I'm doing because the bike is ten years old and as far as i know still on original brake lines.
I have absolutly no problem with stopping at the moment the current set up suits me fine, so yes this may be for cosmetic reasons. But i think the general concensus is braided is better.
To be fair i hadn't found goodridge lines for £45 so if some one can come up with the matching rear line £30 or less i would go with the better known make.
keep it up guys, i like a lot of links. :)

You can buy entire sets for less than that (45 + 30)

My HEL lines (full set) were £87

You can get these ones with the stainless steel ends for just over £70
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Goodridge-Stainless-Lines-Kit-YAMAHA-FZS600-FAZER-98-/270461371130?hash=item3ef8c102fa

I fitted Hel lines to my Fazer about 18 months ago. I prefer the solidness of them, rather than the softness of rubber lines. I think I paid £60 for the full set delivered.
Tip - The company that make Hel lines in the UK also sell them unbranded for much less than the Hel branded ones, and they arrive with the Hel branding on anyway!  ;)
Another pointless... point, My CBF125 was the first in the world to have Hel braided lines on. Hel did not make them for that bike at the time, so I contacted them and sent my rubber ones to them. They made me lines for free and used my rubber ones as a template for all other CBF125's thereafter. They sent the rubber ones back too, along with a bunch of merch. Fact

I've got wezmoto lines fitted on my xt600 with no problems, also had goodridge lines on my old ntv650, no problems there. I've had Hel lines in the past (cbr400/cbr600) back before they got such a name for themselves and added £20 to the price tag, you wont notice a difference in braking between them and both are good quality . In my opinion hel/wezmoto all the same. You will however notice a big difference in braking compared to standard hoses.

I can't remember their name. I have the receipt in the garage, and it was to long ago for eBay to have the info on there. I will have a wee check for you when I get the chance.
