brain fart
« on: 17 February 2013, 11:12:09 pm »
Had a bit of a brain fart while trying to refit the fuel tank to my Gsx600f
Had to replace it as the old one was rusty as hell.
Took pictures of most of the wires etc but have 2 pipes that for the life of me I can't work out where the go.

The 2 pipes I didn't disconnect from the bike so I know they are right on one end. But they seem to have marks  like they fit TO something .

Tank has 3 on the fuel tap and they are conected right. Has 2 overflow/breathers and they are conected and a thicker pipe so its not that. And no conections left on tank
Could just be carb breathers or overflow and that would be my thought if it wasn't for the indents from where a clip has been at some point.

Hard to tell where they're connected from the pics, but if each hose goes to a coupler that links to the upper half of adjacent carbs then they may be the breather for the underside of the diaphragms... in which case the free ends might have been connected to the airbox or a separate filter, or perhaps just clipped to the frame somewhere where they won't get wet or kinked.

Yeah that's deff the way I'm thinking.  Battery on charge and should get more time to tinker on Thursday so will see if it runs.
Everything I touch on it just falls apart with rot. :'(

yeh i would go for breather pipes either to air box or loose threaded down behind gearbox towards the ground....these might not be the original pipes and clip marks could be from another use .
One, is never going to be enough.....
