Numbers 1 and 2 were fine, Number 4 was out the most. Balanced up nicely and idles a lot smoother. Really dont get it

After some more riding and fettling, I don't have the flat spot in first and second. At full chat the bike just sails through the rev range. 3rd is a little hesitant then 4th, 5th and 6th aren't happy at all.
In 5th at 70, upto 1/2 throttle bike accelerates smoothly, any higher it's like i've driven into treacle and it slows right down. Took it to a local mechanic, who had a quick look and listen(he was very busy). He doesn't seem to think it's timing as the engine revs so freely, he measured the temps of the collector pipes and all equal, he lent me his carbtune and have balance the carbs but the issue is still there. All very odd :/ Any ideas chaps? 80

Hi all! After taking the head off and replacing the downpipes for stainless, and replacing the carb rubbers, I now seem to have a 'flat spot' around 6k. When hitting 6k with the throttle open fully it seems to bog down and refuse to get through the 6/7k mark (seems fine in 1st, 2nd, 3rd though) yet when using about 3/4 throttle it goes past no issue.
Any ideas? 81

Hi guys. Currently putting the head back on the fazer, cams lined up perfect, tensioner in, 2 full turns and then both cams are 5-10 degrees out. Done this 3 times now and getting annoyed.
Any ideas?? 84

Had to do exactly this on mine last week. 2 snapped. Centre punch, pilot, upto 5mm then retapped. As people of said, it's tough going and a long winded process. But it works.
Good luck mate 88

Dibs on the coolant pipes
Will more than likely take a few other bits and bobs off your hands too. Will see what happens when the time comes. Shame to see it go, but i'm sure it'll be a great donor for other projects out there! Mine included 96

Cheers for the replies guys!
Well after snapping one of the infamous exhaust studs an executive decision has been made. New MOTAD pipes were collected this morning. Easter weekend, the jobs getting done. Decided i'm not going to FOC about. Dremel the nuts off, heads coming off and replacing all the studs. Off to ebay I go to get studs and head gasket 99
