Title: FOC-U Tourers
Post by: Hedgetrimmer on 18 September 2018, 04:26:32 pm
Anybody done a good tour this year? Lack of funds has meant I haven't been able to do anything, but I'm always interested to see where others have been, especially if accompanied by lots of pics, and especially if lots of those pics include stunning mountain views!

So where you been this year (mountains or otherwise - Fazers only though  :D )? Let's see/hear about it  :)

I did the 3 peaks this year, but not on a Fazer so I suppose that don't count.

1) Snowdon
2) Scafell Pike
3) Ben Nevis
4)Ben Nevis

Did a few tours of the local council estates. Not far different from war zones so I'm still expecting my medals in the post and I'm putting veteran down on the next census 🤡

Somebody did drive a model T Ford to the summit of Ben Nevis about 90 years ago, but I bottled out of repeating the feat with the foxeye :lol

Wild, wet and windy Scotland,

12 days, 2000 miles, part camping part hostels, mainly west cost and outer Hebrides, Barra to Lewis. Pictures to follow if I can get them to post.

Was working in South Africa so took the opportunity Back in May to do 6 day tour out of Cape Town on a mixture of gravel and tarmac roads with quite a few mountain passes. a few photos but struggling to load them.

Then at the beginning of August a week touring in the Ardennes and Luxembourg.

Me and two other bikes did ten days in may, started with the motogp at le mans 3 days stayed above a Chinese,  took 3 days to get rid of the smell of food, ! Then down to vichy on some lovely french b roads, one night there , then to italy stayed in a bb on a farm fantastic fresh food, home made wine , a couple of alpine passes including the San bernardino , in to switsland for one night , then back to Italy for two nights stayed in a great bb there with the grandma doing all the cooking  then back up through Luxembourg  Belgium to calais.  Best ten days I've had, all in fuel accommodation food etc £800, best roads in france people always very curtious.  On the last day of le mans all the local residents come out to watch the bikes with there kids , must be a tradition there.2500 miles in total, and amazingly never got wet .

I’ve just done Blackpool to John ogroats last week, 1100 miles in 4 days. I was on my tdm900 though, but it’s still a Yamaha, does that count? 😜

12 of us did the annual pilgrimage to my house in the middle of France, ride outs in to the beautiful Parc De Morvan, lots of beer on the patio when we got back, daft games, good food and great fun. Not too many photos of the ride outs, too busy riding.

That's nothing! I left our house the other day and in 2mins was at the first roundabout where I got my leg out under braking, then blew off not one but 2 twist and goes and a cg125, a racing cyclist and three lorries! all before barrelling my way up to 42mph in third!!then into ASDA car park where I skidded to a halt in front of a bunch of o.a.p's who I could tell were well impressed by the way they were waving there pension books at me!I just love these big quick rides out,I'm planning 3weekends to town AND back.Wish me luck.

Jeeeeeeeesus fella, that's hardcore...not sure i'm ready for that yet. I'm still getting my tour confidence up by pushing the bike to the end of the driveway - fully geared up but working towards adding luggage.

Good luck for the weekend and make sure you have your ICE numbers locked into your phone.
