hi all....iam going to look at a 1000 fazer tommrow to replace my ageing 600...iam taking my bike trailer and a wad of cash and if its as good as the pictures ill buy it on the spot....my trailer has a wheel chock and is  set up for the 600 front wheel does anyone know the size of the 1000 front wheel so i can adjust it before i leave ?

forgot to mention....its on a 54 plate if that makes any difference

The 600 and the 100 have the same front wheel size I believe, which is 120/70-17 its only the rear which is different 160/60 17 for the 6 and 180/55-17 for the 1000.

Dunno anything about bike trailers.

Gen1 Fazer 600's are 110 front tyres (17ich)  The later ones are 120's

Gen1 thou's are 120/70 17 inch.

thanks for that.....i have a wheel chock on the trailer which aids loading,you push the bike on ,over the pivoting chock and into the wheel cradle which is spindle high and grips the front of the tyre,you can then let go of the bike and it wont fall over,leaving you with two hands to put the straps on,otherwise its a two man job....thanks again for comfirming wheel size....if i buy the bike i put some pictures on

hi ade......dam,was trying to keep it quite from the 600 boys,this dos`nt mean ive given up on the 600,just the new exhaust to put on now and then test ride.
 well i bought the 1000 last night and trailered it home,fitted well on the trailer for the 60 mile trip home,late getting home (10.30) so no time for fiddling with my new purchase,54 plate with rear hugger,renthal bars and scorpion end can,sounds great,just over 20,000 miles with full history.............price.............£2200,iam happy with that

congratulations. a thousand cc is not really needed for the road - but it's sure nice to have!
 
early 2s is what these bikes seem to fetch with just over 20k on the clock.
 
so, with that mileage, it will be exup first then suspension for your consideration..... mine had exactly that mileage and the rear shock was just a spring carrier and the exup was a nightmare to take apart... good luck!

Pretty sweeping statement that - at 23 stone with a frequently used pillion perch I'd say a thousand CCs are more appropriate for my requirements than 600  Logically you could extend your reasoning to argue that anything capable of exceeding the national speed limit is not really needed for the road which I'm sure you're not advocating  .

ive got a few mods to do first before i take the pictures...its got some hideous renthal bars on which are way to wide and worse still some engine crash bars which are simular to the bars used in a 6 man framed tent

I'm afraid that's no excuse. I want to see exactly what a  54 plate Gen1 for £2200 looks like.
I paid £2400 for my 2002. OK, it came needing nothing for a year and was from a Honda main dealer but I'm still slightly envious.
I'm hoping yours will look like a bag of nails and that will make me feel better.
I'm preparing myself to be gutted though

ok will see if i can get some piccies in the morning,and also work out how to get them on here,its a nice clean one in silver/grey engine paint is chipped at front lower but can be touched up easily,small crack in fairing by rear mounting hole,hard to see,and small chip on tail peice again hard to see,tank is perfect,scorpion can fitted last year and is as new,i even have the box for it,also have a rack which is not fitted
 i was looking to spend about £2800,this one was advertised at £2795 (private sale ) i offered £2200 and he snaped my hand off,i had cash in my hand and the trailer in the back,surprised me a bit,right place at the right time

- exup
- suspension
- engine ( has it been jetted)
these 3 key areas are more important to how the bike will perform than any amount of fixtures and fittings...

i agree with all that.....its all about the ride....bikes standard apart from the extra fixtures and fittings.ran well on test ride very smooth with good power delivery,the bars spoiled it for me but easy to change....camera on charge at moment but should be able to put piccies on later

If the bars are Renthal 758's and you think they are too wide just cut the ends down i did and they are far nmore comfortable than the standard toffee bars,the extra width makes a tremendous diiference to the riding position and comfort!
