just ordered a bottle of acf50 and whilst it may be a bit late now, I wonder what the views are of this product...and any tips for application.
(not used it before and bike only really comes out in winter on dry days). 8)

Great stuff. I've used it on a lot of things. living in Shetland then there is a lot of salt in the air so things rust quickly but the acf 50 really does help protect things.

A little goes a long way so don't get carried away. I find application is best sprayed onto cloth then wiped over surface to be protected. Make sure surface is clean before application.

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

WD40 a lot cheaper does the same job or Scottoil F365. being a pensioner (well nearly) Petroleum jelly or Vaseline was always a good bet. At the end of the day it is all about weather proofing metals against the elements. A lot of products out there calling themselves corrosive inhibitors, it is all down to prepared surface and application plus retreatment as and when required.

Ive used acf50 on my bike coz it is marketed as the best shit around.

But bein the best shit around aint good enough.

Shit has got to be readily available & ive never seen acf50 in argos, halfords, tesco, morrissons or Ann summers.

What i do see is wd40 & thats why wd40 gets used...coz theyve got their marketing sorted out.

End o the day i can be recommended a fine Pinot Grigio but when i wanna get pissed i go to Morrissons & buy whatevers on offer & it still does the job he he!!!

Sayin that though i think every bike deserves at least 1 can of acf50 as aspecial treat :)

Glad I check on this as I was just about to start a thread. I just got some Scotoiler anti-corrosion spray. Where is the best place to spray it (on plastic?) and when? Should I wash the bike first?

Make sure you avoid the discs , I put a plastic bag around mine as best I can, really all the engine casings , and any bright metal work , wheels etc, I try and avoid plastic bits as mush as possible.

I've never seen ACF50 for sale in the shops so never tried it , over the years I have used WD40 , the Autoglyn stuff , GT85 , I am currently using a WD40 specialist silicon shine which you can use on paint work , plastics , carbon fibre , metal , leather , rubber hoses , plastics  ( except controls ) no need to buff  , and they claim helps to prevent hoses from splitting .

Anybody know how to keep fork stanchions from rusting?
I use ACF50 but they are still pitting.

...if you are storing it over winter"....get some 1200/1500  wet & dry paper give them a good sanding over the pitting!!...then a light coating of petroleum jelly all over? ;) ....then before using again wipe it off!!....dont use grease on chrome though?...cus its slightly acidic and eventualy tarnish ,then eat into it!!....got a bike in storage, been there 25years and stantions still like new ;) ......

try a good metal polish every now and then to stop them from pitting. My personal favourite is Gtechniq M1.
