Hi all,
I've passed my test for a month or so now and thought I'd admit that I've already bought my second helmet.

I got a Caberg V2 407 in gun metal and a Caberg Duke in Matt Black.  Both Sharp 5* FWIW but I don't think they have any track certifications (not that I'm planning any)

Just thought I'd let you know that they seem pretty well made and I'm loving the flip front for refuelling and the pinlock for the antifog.  I've got a foggy for the v2 407 but it isn't a patch on the Duke.  The Duke is tight but really comfortable.

I looked at the Shoei Qwest too but it didn't seem to fit particularly well in spite of the great reputation.

Anyone else want to share their thoughts on lids ?

FZS600 Fazer / Charging tails
« on: 21 February 2013, 06:50:27 pm »
Curious.....

I've purchased one of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120982024691?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I'm wondering if I wire up a plug to a battery charger if this will trickle charge using the socket as a power input rather than an output ?

Or should I get something like the following:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORBIKE-BATTERY-CHARGER-CONNECTOR-LEAD-RING-TERMINALS-/310605589036?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4851892a2c

I'm worried about water ingress in to the connector, but with my new heated grips, usb plugs and alarm I want to keep the battery topped up.

FZS600 Fazer / USB socket

Thinking of one of these (after adding an inline fuse holder) to a microUSB plug for a satnav.

Opinions ?

Hoping to use my SGS3 as a satnav for the bike and wondered if anyone had recommendations for a handlebar based waterproof case ?

Also want to keep it charged so any ideas on the best way to pull a detachable 5v microUSB power feed which runs off the ignition....

Also wouldn't mind being able to trickle charge the battery without lifting the seat, has anyone heard of some waterproof battery charging tails which can be discretely hidden ?

cheers

FZS600 Fazer / W reg Fazer - Hugger ?
« on: 10 February 2013, 06:19:00 pm »
Interested in this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-FZS600-FZS-600-Fazer-04-Rear-Hugger-Read-Description-/181058749333?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2a27f14395

don't buy it now that I posted it ;-)

Any opinions on if an 04 hugger will fit on an 00 bike ?

The chain guard holes looks like they'd fit, but the two holes at the back do not have matching holes on my bike.

FZS600 Fazer / best mods ? (Hugger/Belly pan/lights ?)
« on: 05 February 2013, 12:21:43 pm »
Should I keep my Fazer completely standard or are there any major benefits to be had for small injections of cash ?

I was thinking of :

  • a hugger but as far ass I can tell it won't serve much of a practical purpose (as well as not being able to find one cheaply for a W reg FZS600).
  • A Belly pan seemed like an okay idea but will it really achieve much ?
  • lower fairing, again, no real point I can see
  • higher windscreen (this would seem to be good for motorway riding)

Have just booked in on this course :-)

There are quite a few tense moments for a new rider.  Rain, cross wind, cornering.  So much to learn.  I'm hoping this is going to be the first of many bike courses to help improve the standard of my riding :-)

« on: 29 January 2013, 03:24:22 pm »
Hi all,

I've just bought a W reg gold Fazer 600.  I passed my test a couple of weeks ago so this is my first bike.

I'm looking for meet ups, ride outs or anything that will teach me about bikes, the people that ride them and the community in general.

I'm based in Market Harborough, LE16.  Anyone near here interested ?

Cheers
Simon
