Hi, so i own a 99 fazer 600 with 31k on the clock. For the last 1000 miles or so i have had a cam chain tick when cold/ after riding for 10-15 mins. although after about 10-15 mins it did get a lot quieter. Anyway, i thought i would try the usual take the plugs out and roll back trick. Didn't work. So i decided to take the cam chain tensioner off and it was fully extended. i reset it and refitted and as i thought still a tick. Is this time for a new cam chain then?
I'm going to be doing this job myself and as the bike is my only transport i will need to do it quickly. (in one day hopefully) I'm going to do it in the frame with a rivet link and open ended cam chain.
Any advice on where to get the chain and how to best go about doing this would be great.#
Also one question that comes to mind is how do i split the old cam chain? do i need a special link splitter or just a bog standard one?
Thanks, Dan.
