All depends if you've filled your expansion tank up to the top or not i s'pose ! ! !  :lol :lol :lol

just re-read my last post Darrsi and dont think it came over too well.

wasnt trying to be arsey about it - im by no stretch of the imagination mechanically minded and i didnt intend the post to be taken that way.

The only reason I know is that i have just replaced my coolant and needed the majority of the 2l bottle (and yes - i filled up the overflow)

if you actually have the Windows OS disk (as opposed to the recovery disk) then re-installing the OS would be the easiest way of doing this.

During this install, there is the option to REFORMAT the drive - this will clean all the data from it.

Do you know what OS it is? if you dont have a disk, i could fire one down to you as long as you have the license key.

(and others may contradict me)

Nah, can't be bothered, there are enough posts here (or on the old site) that will put you straight.

Oh go on then,,,

It's not a detuned Tcat motor and was the same through 1998 to the end of the fox eye, they're not R6 brakes (they're from the R1, and were fitted from day 1 of the Box-eye (my 1998 has them))

What you do have, is adjustable forks (they went on in 2000, still in box-eye days), a bigger fuel tank (I think that also changed in 2000, and then got bigger again with the fox eye), different (lower I think) pillion footrests, and I think, a slightly different swing arm (although might be making that up!)

All errors and inconsistencies are purely the result of not paying much attention to what I'm typing ;)

Thanks for being gentle with me rich ;)

i got mine from Halfords (circa £13 if I remember). Ready mixed 1:1 ratio
let us know how u got on.

little tip if you arent aware. I use a 2 litre empty plastic bottle cut in half (length wise) to help drain the coolant - the "cap" end fitted nicely under the drainage plug hole and routed the coolant into a bucket. mind you - it fecking comes out fast when you remove the radiator cap!.

i paid over the odds for my '03 Foxeye FZS600 - i know that.

Apparently (and others may contradict me) the '02/'03 Foxeye model is more sought after than the earlier / later models due to it having the detuned Thundercat engine and the R6 brakes - i believe the later/earlier models dont really match it (this is what ive been told and i can believe it)
mine was a minter though - barely a scratch on it and with a number of extras.

hey lolliver.

I had a leak from my coolant pipes although it was fairly easy for me to find. (right above the wet patch on the ground was the pipe that seem to have lost its seal.

I decided to flush the coolant whilst repairing. this isnt something I had ever done before - im a relative newbie when it comes to bike maintenance.

the leak for me was coming from the pipe that you can just see in the photo below

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/9125_146879701447_6564283_n.jpg

at the front of the belly pan, you can see the elbow of the pipe that was leaking. the clip had somehow "lost its grip" so I replaced with a stainless steel jubilee clip

when you are replacing the coolant, remember to replace with one that is designed for aluminium engines.

good luck - if i can do it then it isnt difficult.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Rev and speedo needles going up and down
« on: 09 July 2012, 03:13:23 pm »
That happened to me (and probably contributed to me getting a ticket!!!!)

i thought it was battery (changed it and hasnt happened since)

what i did find was that when the needles dropped (and stuck at 0) pressing the brake brought them back to life.

After speaking to a mechanic he told me he had heard of this scenario and pointed to electrical contacts (probably ones hidden under the cowl)

Hi all,

Was part of the old community (most of you probably wont remember) but had to take a little break from biking (bike damaged during Mot and off road plus shoulder injury being fixed)

Riding a Fazer FZS600 which is plenty fast for me!!!
