Title: Brakes Question
Post by: arch33angel on 05 October 2011, 06:06:16 pm
Hi, is it possible without a load of hassle to move the whole braking system, calipers, lines, master cylinder, lever from one FZS600 to another FZS600 of same year without having to split, bleed and rebuild? Front and rear. Thanks.

it is possible but it may require some stripping of the bike like the forks as the pipe may go through the gap in the forks or something else, without looking at the bike the rear should be a bit easier, idealy 2 of you will make it easier as you will need to keep the reservoirs upright

From Deefer................with the fairing liners and top yoke removed it is entirely possible, Its also a lot easier if its running twin aftermarket hoses and not the standard 3 hose set up...... Just dont let the master cyclinder get turned upside down at any point.

Thanks guys. I bought an 02 Silver a few days ago 24K miles to replace my Yellow 02 with 62K miles. Yellow Fazer has Hel lines, 2 fronts 1 rear, and totally rebuilt calipers about 500 miles ago and stops on a sixpence. New bike has standard brake lines which as you know are still good stoppers.Probably swap the wheels too as new Fazer has Dunlop Sportmax which Im not too fussed on. Would have taken stainless downpipes off old bike too but not gonna risk snapping the studs. Cheers.
