« on: 21 December 2015, 11:40:18 am »
getting good at fixing ours now! for some reason the drain pump keeps giving up the ghost. whip it out, spin it over a few times and all is hunky dory for a month :\
new one is £62.15....strange price but!!!!
any real experts out there with a proper answer or is it a case of 'they all do that sir'

sounds like the motor on it has a dead spot and every now and then it stops spinning at the wrong point.

They all do it eventually :pokefun

Motors run on brushes. Worn brushes cause intermittent stops? My washing machine does that and new brushes solves it.

PS I'm no appliance god!

I dont think you can change the drain pump brushes as its more like a fan ?? motor -- all enclosed, (is it )
I like the idea of it stopping on a dead spot and giving it a spin with your hand sorts it until it lands on the dead spot again, sort of a wheel of Mis-fortune
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

Yeh its just I had to swap my pump on a washing machine and it was an enclosed unit - no means to replace brushes. I have changed brushes on a main washing machine motor and they are designed to be replaced.
( i know we are talking about a dishwasher)
