If u go to nikwax website they have a pop quiz on how to use their products.  When you get the questions all correct they send you free samples!!!!!!
Not always the stuff you want, but still usefull I think you can do the quiz n get samples evwry 3 months. So with a couple of frienfs n family taking delivery for you you can get a lot of free product.
Never bought nikwax atall..... n I have been using it for 5 years! !!!!
Pass it on . ;)

Yes. Just wash with the tec wash then when machine has finished just add the reproofer to the machine and start another wash cycle.

Also you dont need to reproof after every tec wash cos the tec wash helps keep existing proofing.
I re proof every other wash which is normally the start of winter for me.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: how good is your alarm?
« on: 30 April 2013, 05:54:30 pm »
I built my own. 2 point immobiliser and a foccing loud siren. Standy current is pretty much zero untill it detects movement, vibration or current draw..... but the chirp sensitivity is set independently from the alarm going into monitor state.
Not insurance approved obviously. But their are no internet work arounds for it us the wiring is bespoke.
At the end of the day the alarm will not stop it getting stolen but with my siren gives me a chance to get my hands on the $#!@@@***/# gits before they get the chance to make off with it :evil

General / Re: Why don't Police riders hang off the seat?
« on: 26 April 2013, 04:02:13 pm »
Cos of this thread I have now been trying hanging off, im still having to think about it too much to really give it full beans but have experienced the feeling of the bike being more planted in an upright position. But still not convinced that even with a lot more practice that I could actually achieve more speed or a better line? Gonna try it some more whilst the sun is out just cos as an engineer the peoof is in the testing  :D

« on: 26 April 2013, 03:48:23 pm »
I got myself a pair of dry-vis over trousers. Excellent waterproofing  and still got knee armour. Im 36 waist bought size 36. And they fit perfectly both qith my suit trousers or jeans.
Only prob is they are too warm in summer but then I ride in monday with my work trousers on but then each night for the week leave my trousers at work n ride home with just the over trousers which are still comfortable and still a good fit

I don't have those but my Motrax DHMs took the brunt of a slow speed drop the other day.

Total cost £15 for a new brake pedal (bent). I am trying to renew the bung but no on has stock. There's a couple of small scuffs on the fairing, but no pipe damage, indicators OK, bar ends OK, forks OK.

Can't say every accident would be better for bungs but mine was.

DBo.
Same for me my R&G's pretty much saved the entire eight hand side of the bike. Did crack the front fairing n lost a bit of paint but mirrors indicators radiator engine casings brake levers tank n  zorst all survived.
Best money I ever spent.

Personally hanging off is better saved for track days as SMIDSY does not give pain relieve so I tend to make my presences as big as possible. Basically I is a lazy sod and throwing it round corners takes allot of energy of which can be better employed in doing nothing. Daz

That's  what I meant about counter steer, gives the same result from a tiny amount of pressure in the wrist/arms :D

To be fair I have never ridden bigger than a 600..but my foxeye has no chicken strips  and I have ground my toes ( not riding wirh commuter feet  ;) ) and too often hit the hero blobs.... but have never had to hang off!!!!!
Good balance and proper counter steer puts the bike exactly where I want it. Plus being seated I find it easier and quicker to get back on the power.

Never had proper air on the fazer, tho I have had the front lift 2 up in second when accelerating from a junction! !!
Did make me grin but was seriously worried about putting it back down with a panicked pillion
Good times tho  ;)

I bought one from tool station for about £25. Non branded but rachet. Took it into work n checked the calibration. .. it was bang on! And has served me well. 2 years later checked the calibration again and it was still perfect.  Will see if I can find a link to it.

I do sympathise with you, I dropped mine a few weeks ago. Purely my fault. Had to change line whilst braking and lost the front on a wet drain cover. Thankfully crash bung took the worst but wrecked the nose cone.
I got away with badly sprained wrist and badly bruised knee.
The important thing is to know what you did wrong but also to know what you should have done.
Then armed with that info you can practice better techniques.
When I did my test I only had half day with instructor on the way to the test.after a while of him following me he kept telling me I was rushing things and trying to do too much at once? Looking, ,gear change, braking.
I didn't get what he meant until he made me follow him. And I realised how much in advance you can actually anticipate and react accordingly. The outcome is that you are already doing the right thing in the right place.
I dont think you need a mass of tuition but maybe half day following and then assessed by a instructor.
Good luck getting back in the saddle.

I would definitely get the light green wire spliced back together, it connects from the safety cut off relay so could be preventing the ignition unit exciting the coils properly.  Hence no spark.
Good luck

on the wiring schematic its the wire shown as light green LG which from what i can see enables the starter motor as long as its in neutral or the side stand is up.
doesnt seem to be related to your problem, but i think should definately be connected.

good luck mate

Hi carrier, the starter cut off circuit relay, is on the lefthand side of the bike just behind the battery, its the larger of the 2 relays.
as for the green wire on the ignition unit, mine is connected, but as you say im not sure where it connects too?

« on: 05 April 2013, 03:46:48 pm »
If you have an Xbox360 and/or Samsung TV a little icon appears in loads of apps and when pressed it will just appear on the TV streamed over wireless.  I watch 1080p videos, listen to music and display photos on my TV via the xbox360 by tapping a single button.

It's pretty cool.
I have the S3 and xbox360, what does the xbox need to stream direct from the phone?
I thought I was tech savy but im missing a trick here. Cheers
